Default Washington D.C. Zoo photo

This is what we took at the zoo.

This tiger looked almost fake, he was sitting very still, until a bird flew in front of his nose.

They had a few wild horses

A sloth bear. We had never heard of one before. I could not get a clear pic. because the glass was frosted.

This is 1 of 2 seals the zoo has. They are both about 36 years old.

They also have 2 sea lions. We got to watch them being feed. Both sea lions are only around 2 years old.

Even more zoo pics.

We got to the hippos just as they were finishing eating

The fishing cats look just like a cat I use to have, only a little bit bigger.

The cheata looked like he was just waiting for his pic. to be taken.

Very nice.

I went to the National Zoo several years ago. I want to say it was about five or six years ago, but I remember that my cousin was very young. At that point in time, he thought that all animals were dogs.

Good set of zoo pics, Maw! One of these days I really need to drag myself and the kids down to that zoo.

That last set is extraordinary, the hippo picture pic fantastic and those of you and Kibbie with the bear statue are very cute

Thanks for posting these, Maw.

Pandas aren't bears (well, actually, there's serious argument about whether they should be classed with bears, classed with raccoons, or in a whole separate order.)

FYI, at the research facility in Front Royal, NZP just had Prezwalski's mare foal. They're not precisely horses (different number of chromasomes) and extremely rare--NZP's a very important breeding program.

Do they still have the cheetah enrichment sessions where they do cheetah lure-coursing? Those were fun to watch.

We didn't see anything like that when we were there.

Maw...Looks like you and Kibbie had a fantastic time. I really enjoyed all your photos too...especially the wall mural of the dolphin.

There were several murals. Most of them were rock.
