Default Pics from our trip to India

We had a wonderful trip to Northeast India, and I'd like to share the photos of our trip with you all. I use flickr.com to host my photos, and I've made an India collection consisting of three sets: pics from Kolkata, pics from Kaziranga, and pics of hotels/lodges.

You can see the photos here:

Those are some great pictures, Nef, that again show your great love for animals. Strange to see elephants in an zoo in a country in which they are native and still used And bats in an outside tree during the day?

Looks you did indeed have a great time. Oh, the pic with Anders eating the banana was fun too

I like your feline native guide.

(It must have been quite a trip culinary-wise: you appear to run out of bogroll!)

I had to google 'bogroll' to figure out what you are talking about.

I'm guessing you are refering to the pic of the bathroom in Guwahati. And as you apparently have noticed, there's not so much toilet paper left. This is actually not so much because of our usage of it, but more because of the lodge not making sure that their guests have plenty of toilet paper. We only stayed 1 night at this lodge, so I don't know if they would have given us an extra roll the next day, but we only had half a roll to begin with, and our experience from the previous lodge where we stayed was that we had to ask to get new rolls, since they didn't put a new roll in the bathroom even though we had used it all up. This was never a big problem for us, 'cause we had brought 4 rolls with us from home.

And speaking of culinary issues.... the food was delicious, and since we made sure to only drink bottled water and didn't eat from food stalls, we didn't have any problems.

These pictures are amazing!! I am so jealous of you, haha. The farthest away I've been (and I live in NY) is Trinidad and Tobago. That was an awesome trip, but I'd def love to go to India one day.

OH Ane...these are wonderful. Martin and I really enjoyed getting to see the Elephants in the wild. Did you really get to go riding on the Elephants? I never realized how beautiful India is, so I want to thank you for letting us join you on your trip...photos wise that is. Your animal photos as always are wonderful in the extreme...you do them all fantastic justice. I especially enjoyed getting to see the Turtles on the log out in the water...sunning themselves. I am so glad that you are home again, but at the same time jealous of your amazing adventrue. I am not too sure that I would have been as brave as the two of you, to go ahead and go at the time you did, with all that was going on in India at the time. Like I have said before...I am so glad that the two of you had such a wonderful trip.

I didn't now that the dogs were acyually a certain type! All the dogs you see running around in Assam look like the same type, and all the dogs you see in Kolkata looked like one type, but different than the one in Assam. I was amazed when we spent a night at a lodge in Guwahati and saw that they had a labrador! 'cause I had only seen basenji dogs for a whole week.
