It's so hard for me to find time to get online lately!!! I've been out working so much lately...I'm working out at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, so my days are very long, usually 12 hours, which gets very exhausting when I work 4-5 times a week~ but it's a fun job, you know, we're seeing lots of humpback whales out there lately, really cool!
Anyway, better check out some other threads

For some reason the title of this thread reminded me of Pink Floyd's Time. Good song!
I haven't seen whales since I was ten years old. Your lucky people to be able to see such beautiful giants!!

Man, you guys would love them, whales are like the coolest creatures out there, the other day, we stopped right in front of a cow with her calf, and they put on quite a display for the passangers! We also get dolphins out there, they love to jump infront of the bow of the boat, really spectacular creatures, all of them!

I've seen dolphins in the Tweed River; that's the Australian one, not the English! Tweed Heads is at the confluence of the Tweed River with the Pacific, and we often see dolphins up towards the bridge, and whales off the headlands.

I hate to admit it, but I'm kind of jealous.

For years, I've been wanting to see any kind of Cetaceans (whales, dolphins, porpoises). I did a project on Cetacean biology last year in the hopes of achieving that. As a part of that project, I had to spend 15 hours in the field for experience. But every place I tried contacting either didn't respond (until it was too late) or said they couldn't support me. In the end, I worked with seals and sea lions (which were okay, too).

The last time I saw any Cetacean was at a water park in Vallejo, California when I was too young to appreciate their beauty.

But, it's okay... I've grown use to this.

One day, though, I will get a chance to see them in flesh and blood, as oppose to seeing them on paper or on the TV and computer screen.

I'm sure you had fun. Please, don't mind my ranting.

If you consider visiting Australia, enquire first about whale-watching tours, and other sites that focus on cetaceans. It would be great to have you come by, enjoy Australia, and the wildlife as well.

Besides, you could always drop in on us antipodeans while you're here!
