Late Christmas for Hans - lost box of books arrived - A Meeting of Minds

Maybe some of you know that I was waiting for a box of books to arrive from the US that was lost en route. This box had been together with a smaller one in a mailbag (M-bag) and the smaller box arrived about a month ago. We were assuming the mailbag had ruptured (even though these bags are real sturdy and I had received two of them before this) and that the boxes got seperated so to speak. This larger, second, lost, box was unadressed but I think the Dutch mail finally opened the box and searched it... Luckily for me there was one item that bore my address (a tractor brochure I bought for my son) and no item bearing the address of the sender. The Royal Dutch mail assumed I was the sender and I received the box a few days ago with a "returned to sender" envelope attached to it.

Yippee, I finally got the books I have waited for since they were posted in the USA in the week of November 20th! I had hoped it would arrive around Christmas... Instead it arrived March 28th

Ah well, I can smile again although I was lucky in the sense that there's weren't any real valuable things in the box. It's just that these (cheap) books so often took me so long to search and find that I felt sad at their loss.

I was so happy I started unpacking immediately and creating a pile of books on the kitchen table

The Killashandra 1st US edition you see in the pile actually does not belong there; it just arrived at the same day.

Just enquiring as to which Robin Roberts' book on Anne McCaffrey is on top of the pile? I got one recently but I think she wrote 2 of them on Ms McCaffrey.

That'd be the literary critique Roberts did. Her other one on Anne is a biography, and has the US Dolphins of Pern artwork on the cover.

Jube, there's quite a few of the Robin Roberts lit.crit. book being offered on eBay's Half.com.
Crrently there's one for les than 10 US dollars and even for an ex-library book that's a steal!

Thanks Hans, just in the process of looking into now. I think I've got one on my ebay "watch" list but without the dust jacket and also ex-library but more expensive then the one you brought up so now I'm in the process of working out whether I go with the person I've dealt with before or go with this one.

No problems, thank you Hans. I'm suppose to have a box of books coming from the USA (soon-ish, I hope) myself but have not received them yet. Hoping it'll come soon! Funny though, hubby got a parcel from Canada and it's here but mine hasn't. Grumbles into the distance!

P.S.
Actually I did encounter a problem with it, I went to purchase this book and had to remove it from my checkout because they were sending to an American address. Although there's plenty of people here who would be willing to help out, I'm sure, my issue is that they didn't allow for alternative addresses like overseas. I've never had any problems with this before. Definitely grumbles off into the distance. I'll have to see if my darling sister is willing to help out. I haven't heard from her lately! YIKES! Unless anyone on MoM is willing to relabel and repost to me - now that sounds too confusing even to me. Definitely scratch that idea.
