I just ate my first ever "mini" Moon Pie. I wish I had those 110 calories back! Cheap chocolate, 2 circles of tasteless "yellow" cake with a thin smear of what was supposed to be marshmallow in the middle. I got the thing at a baby shower where the theme was "Over The Moon." I'd never buy one of those. If I'm gonna have calories I want something edible!

Oh yes! If you're going to indulge in sheer wickedness you might as well do it in style. Were these moon pies home made? I hope not.
I bought some cake based on a favourite I used to make and was most disappointed. Should have had a crunchy nutty base with a decadent caramel middle and nutty chocolate crumbly topping. It was tasteless and dull;

And to think, I no longer bake it myself as I know hubby and I have no self control

and would eat it all up quickly

Ooh no, this thing was definitely store bought. I rarely bake any more either as we don't have any self control where tasty baked goods are concerned.

I hope this works for everyone. It's something I found on Facebook.

For anyone not in the US of A that doesn't know what S'mores are, traditionally you take a Graham cracker, put a piece of chocolate on top, toast a marshmallow, slap it on the choccy while hot and gooey, and smoosh another Graham on that. So this isn't traditional, in that they are also using Reese's peanut butter chips as well as chocolate chips.

But to each, his own

I think I'll stick with the handmade chocolates at a local chocolate shop or maybe some Lindt Truffles. As one person at that site commented "it made their teeth hurt" looking at that! I haven't toasted a marshmallow in decades! I bet this is heaven for anyone with a sweet tooth!

That's the whole thing with this, you can put whatever you want for chocolate in, peanut butter chips if you want, and the marshmallows get toasted in the oven without the fuss and bother. I think they're using a cast iron skillet to hold the heat, to keep things "dipable" longer. Serve at a party & eat befpre it has a chance to cool and harden up, because once it does, there'll be no dipping hardened chocolate with a Graham cracker.

Would it be feasible to try to lick the skillet clean?

So - packing to shift. Boxes and rubbish everywhere. Then a treasure will turn up. Yesterday it was a children's book that may have come out to New Zealand on a sailing ship with my ancestors in 1862. It has a story of the first Police Dog in it, which I'm going to use in the book I'm writing about the event. I did wonder what the children might have been doing cramped onto a small sailing ship for three months. Given what those children did later (first woman MA in British Empire) it figures reading books would figure in their daily life.

Went LARPing last night. My character stayed at the bar, mostly, drinking buckets of White Russian. My character is half dragon half cat who is stuck in cat form, a firey red cat the size of a cougar, but long and lean.

Hubby is starting to get into it, it is nice to have something all three of us enjoy doing together.

Shameless self promotion here. I'm doing laser engraving now, in case I didn't mention it before. Here's some examples:

A small plaque that I made to sell at craft shows.

Found this design online and now it's for sale too.

This was a custom piece, 4 individual patterns made, laid out, and burnt one at a time. She's my wife's "adopted" granddaughter. Wife wasn't aware of what I was making even though she was in the room almost the whole time I was making it. She cried when I gave it to her.

Thank you. That bottom one measures 12 X 12 inches. It's a "wood canvas" from the craft section of Walmart. But I took the original pictures, ran them through Photoshop 6, and built the .nc programs that the computer runs the engravers with.

That program is also the extension that CNC milling machines use. I never did one before I got my first engraver.

I've improved the pattern, too. I'll put it on a plaque for her (or for you to give to her for Christmas or some other special day) for $20 + postage. If you want one, say the word & I'll burn it off & show you the product before you have to pay for it.

I leave these plaques unfinished so the new owner can stain it whatever color he wants then spray it with polyurethane. Stains & spray available at Walmart.
