Mawra, sometimes our cats get in to a kitchen cabinet, even if it's only open for a moment. Later there will come a "scratch, scratch" and "let me out!" I hope you found the missing miscreant.

Today I took a lot of stuff from the guest room to donate at the thrift store. I finally uncovered the bed in there! Amazing how much mess can accumulate in a room when you can just close the door and ignore it.

Cat has been rescued. He was in the eves. We think he thought he was stuck. When we called him, he wiggled a little, and sqeezed out. He was stuck for 2 days, at least he thought he was. Star isn't real smart.

Glad you found your cat, I think its National Cat Day Today. ! @ our hostess sends a tins of biskets /cookies to all party goers, f who are be here for it. " Also those who are are members here too.

Mawra, we also had a cat named Star who was not very smart. We decided she damaged her brain jumping up on a high cabinet and then sliding face first into the wall at the end. Not just once, many times. She was very sweet but not bright.

Years and years ago, had a kitten that meowed incessantly!! Got on my nerves!! I took it back to where I had gotten it from!!! Told the people running the adoptions, I couldn't handle the kitten and it meowed incessantly!!!

The reason was, I had misheard it!! When I was a child, I was dyslexic. I was put in a room where the only thing you could do was look at the wall all day! When I'm not doing anything, I get bored. One day I decided to listen in on the can read group (was in the can't read group) and taught myself to read!! When the school board found out, they accused my parents of hiring a tutor!!! Whenever I'm writing, I tend to spell out the word!!

My learning problems, can sometimes, can get in my way, I have a very high understanding of stuff, but with a lower ability in language arts, spelling, grammer,putting things in the the right order, sometimes I well miss astep,, and don't even know that I have, and math, now that after being low vision, most of my life I have a no vision, the O2 that saved me, has now closed off the life giving blood to behind my eye, that I can see, once started its can go slow or fast, myine was fast,. along with glacoma, pinhs that a lazer fixed, and a few other things, I am grateful for what I can see and do,. I Don't know if I would have been smart for the shell program if I was in that world or not, I am just greatful to be born whenthey had a NICU to help me.

Also we do have a lot of folks with reading problems and/or other problems here. I know a few that are not fan s of AMc in real life, my dad for one, but he doefine himself.

Ginny, I can understand you quite well. I spent 8 or so years as a proof reader for various companies so I am used to spelling, etc difficulties. You do really well and as time goes on with practice I'm sure you'll have more confidence. Plus, I bet technology is improving all the time. Have a safe, lovely Christmas with family.

Thanks, yes/no sometimes the spell check er and I get it wrong , but a few of its ideas have given me a few smiles

I was once told, by a community College, that since I spell, I can't read. Reading has never been a problem.

That was a very foolish thing to tell you, and not true as far as I've experienced. A childhood friend of mine was a terrible speller but an avid reader and got Honors all through High School. I love words and try to have the correct spelling but I don't believe it is necessary to everyone. Sometimes schools hire people to "teach" who really should be doing SOMETHING else!

I can read, and understand mostly what I read, its when I startwriting my answers the misunderstanding, can pop up, or if I 'see' something and I want to tellsomeone that is were the communication breakdown is. I hope this helps, I just got my flu shot, my booster , and feeling the med change, and a bbit of a migraine, 'well this time I got it to spell right' sorrroll eyes if I could' , and packing for leaving for the morning, so I am going to head for bed and offline very soon.

Our son is coming up on Thursday and staying to Saturday. His girlfriend is going away with her family for 2 weeks. Daughter and her boyfriend will be here Christmas morning for stockings and presents. Then all of us will go to her boyfriend's dad's for a huge Christmas feast. I am making a sweet potato dish to take along. Nice not to have to prepare a whole meal!

Kibby & were going to go to Worldcon this since its in Washington DC this year. When we first got tickets, we'll over a year ago, it was going to be in August. Kibby volunteered to run D&D game or help out other ways. They asked her to be on a panel.
They moved the con to a week before Christmas. This weekend. When the contacted her about being on a panel, Kibby told them we had to cancel. There was no way she can take off a week before Christmas. She has told them this several time in the last several months. 2 weeks ago they wanted to moderate a panel. She again told them she was not going to be there. Yesterday, she got a text wanting to know when she wanted to have a meeting, with people who were going to be on HER panel. We are amused.

Won't they be amazed when that panel does not happen! I can't believe a huge thing like WorldCon is still being held.Things are (rightly, in my opinion) being cancelled or postponed all over the place. You are probably safer not being there!

We're having a very quiet Christmas at home with 2 of our boys. Hubby's eldest and wife will come down a couple days later for a day visit. Then we hope to go and visit his mom, sister and her hubby., maybe for New Years but not sure as the weather can be difficult. If things go as planned in the new year I may be meeting my sisters,( it seems strange saying sisters, as we just found out we have an older half sister a couple years, ago) for a visit.

It's one of the trickier situations I've found myself in. Turns out many years ago she was in touch with mom who while happy to hear from her given up for adoption daughter was doing well, politely declined any further interaction. Now fast forward almost 40 years and thanks to the wonders of a DNA test my younger sister and I are now in touch with her. We're really not sure if we should tell mom or not.

Worldcon has not been planned well. I know they've had problems. The main hotel went bankrupt, so they had to find a new one. Covid problems. But changing it to a week before Christmas meant that people who work retail or hospitality can't go. The only mentioned guest of honor. They did not say who else was going to be there.
The host hotel doesn't have restaurant or food at all. Or even a bar.
You have to be vaccinated, even if you can't be, and wear a mask. At the time, children vaccines weren't available, so kids could not go. I agree with vaccine mandates, but there should be exceptions.
Only hotel guest parking, at 50 dollars a night. No on street parking. They only listed panels 2 weeks ago. They replaced the one in charge of programs 3 or 4 months ago. It's a mess. Glad we decided not to go.

Mausey. Your mother never told you about your sister?! People do strange things, sometimes out of embarrassment or perhaps something else. I am sorry it has taken so long for you. At this point it may not be worth telling your mother. You will probably never know why she acted as she did but at least you have your sister now.

I won't say the timing of having to close the Fort Wayne northeast Walmart for deep cleaning due to COVID-19 was bad. But the only way it could have been worse is if it had been the 23rd and 24th. This is usually the busiest weekend of the Christmas season and an already crazy weekend has been a ride and a half. Had a relatively easy start to Friday then about noon we started seeing customers we had never seen before and today was worse. I have already hit my normal weekend totals and still have to work tomorrow and Monday. From what I understand the northwest and central Walmarts have also been hit hard, but the southwest store is at its normal pace. Me having a thousand dollar sale is not normal but also usually happens at least once a month when one of our regular customers does a monthly or quarterly pantry restock. I had three yesterday and six today and one of those was for over $3000. This store doesn't do $3000 in sales to one person on one sale.

Walmart in Fort Wayne Indiana has stores bracketing the city at the northeast, northwest, southeast (mine), southwest, and centrally to the north near Glenbrook mall. Nice to know we have a store near you within a 20 minute drive, but if something happens at one of them the next closest one may not be the one you'd think it would be. For instance mine is actually closer to the southwest or northeast stores then the central store.

Yesterday, we had a storm move through. I was watching a Jeff Dunham video on Tubi at the time. Until this morning, Tubi was not working right!! I tried it a short time ago, and it's working!!! When a friend came in, I showed him it's working again!!!

I discovered a mostly useless bit of information today on my tablet. I go to 2 websites through the Nook. After years of not using a laptop or desktop it occurred to me to see if the smilies on my keyboard will work on these websites. Looks like yes.

Blasted virus! Our plans have changed as our visitors have decided to stay home. They both work with a lot of people and with the new variant have decided not to risk bringing it out here. While I appreciate the thought, I'm pretty sure it's already here as it seems to spread very rapidly. The visit with the sisters may also be on hold as we're going back to a shut-down.

Depending on the day I range from throwing everything open and letting the sh*t fall as it wills to locking everything down for 3 weeks. The biggest problem with the first option is I know too many people who have to shovel the sh*t and they are all very tired.

Hubby and I got our booster earlier this week. So far other than my arm feeling a bit heavy neither of us have had an reaction.
