Default Dog bites

If you warn a visitor to your house that your dog might bite them, who is at fault?

I depends, if you know the dog is a biter, you should put him up. If the person went toward the dog, or went where the dogs is, they are at fault. If animal control gets involved, the dog & owner will be held responsible.

I had read about where someone had been warned about a dog possibly being protective in the house. The visitor reached down to pet the dog and got bit! It went to court and the owner of the dog was found to be at fault! That's what prompted my question!

Ah, ok. I was curious since you have at least one big dog where you live. The question about dog bites got me confused.

It is almost always owner's fault. Unless you're breaking into the house or hurting someone.
