Sounds good to me, I am going out of town, and inter net add some Northern nuts from me, and enjoy the wine , pies, and musrooms and shellfish, two real life food, that I can't eat, but in my mind or here we can enjoy with out getting sick, Hot mullled wine,so the sparet is gone for me, I like the flavor not the effects.

Addding Art's Drucken's Chicken AKA Chicken with Beer as an example, Takes a bit to make but well wworth it. Or Irish Stew in a cookbook I have. just need to find myIirsh Soada Bread one. PS I am feeling a bit like a better but I hope folks can understand , I might not be hear, but I do try to leave a few things for later a Potluck idea,.

PS bad jingle comeing nnext 'Sometime you feel like a nut, sometime you don't Almond Joy has nuts , Mounds dont' I am not fond of cocunut or I think a tree nut , ref The DDolphins of Pern, my copy is packed or not able to get to it right now. just saying.

Over in the corner is a 40 food pine Christmas tree.
It has gold, bronze, green and blue ornaments, with a white star on top. 50 strands of twinkilng light surround the tree.
Several cats are sleeping and playing in the branches. Don't worry, the tree will not come, nor will any ornaments.
The tree skirt is green with stars, of all colors, are embroidered on it.
The tree is a bit bare, so please add your ornament. Please describe it. It can look way you want. It doesn't have to be Anne McCaffrey related.

Also under the tree are presents, one has your name on it. What does your present look like & what is it? It can be anything you want. It can a fun, gag, serious, anything. It City can't be anything like world peace, or no illness ect....

My ornament is a small brown thin wood pig, about 4 inches long by 2 inches high, made by my brother on a jig saw machine at least 60 years ago. It is painted with a single white squiggle from tail to nose, a single eye and a happy smile. It goes on our tree every year in memory of him.

My gift. A small diamond pendant on a long, sturdy yellow gold chain. I won't be getting that in real life and you DID say it could be "anything".

My ornament is large, about 2 feed, around. The front has a Manger scene, with barn, baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph & 3 Wiseman, as well as barn animals. Above the barn is a bright glowing star. The rest of the ornament is painted to look like the galaxy, with pinpoints of light showing through. The colors are swrills of purple, blue & gold. The ornament has a light inside, so gold light shows through the pinpoints.

What is everyone doing for Christmas? What they hoping to get?

Our kids will be here in the morning. We'll open stockings and presents. Then we all go to daughter's boyfriend's dad's house for a huge feast. Tons of Italian food and he always buys huge slabs of beef that he slow cooks until it melts in your mouth.

I am hoping for a record player that will record records and cassette tapes to CD's. I have recordings made on a "record player" 60/70 years ago of my large family Thanksgiving gatherings (singing, reciting silly poems) of my grand parents, my parents and brother, aunts, uncles and cousins. They are on 78 RPM records and I very much want to preserve them to CD's and perhaps onto the computer.

I'm adding several ornaments to the tree. One is a small, dark gold model of a 1971 Dodge Charger SuperBee for my brother, an owl made of wood for one of my aunts, a fountain pen for one of my uncles and a doll house sized cookbook with a mug on it in memory of SharonCoffeeFiend.

My gift is a plain envelope with a card in it. The card is good for 2 weeks all expenses paid trip to the Green Dragon Inn and sight seeing tours of New Zealand for up to 20 people (each of whom may bring 1 additional guest.)

To be honest, I'm really having trouble getting into the Christmas spirit despite all the baking, tree decorating and small gift buying that I've been doing. I surprised a neighbour with a secret santa gift and later some baking. Another neighbour got a plate of goodies as well.

My present is a small square box, wrapped in irredsent purple, gold swirls with small dragons flying. In the box is a certificate for everything I need to go the the 50th year anniversary of the premier of my favorite TV show, when I was little, Emergency.

Over against one wall is several long table heaped high with, honey baked ham, cherry glazed ham, 2 turkeys, and Salman. One table has several bottles of champagne, wine, and cider, if all kinds, on ice. There is also a cauldron of hot chocolate, with a large bowl of marshmallows & cool whip beside it.

The are, of course, several cats trying to get to the salmon.
What side dish did you bring.
The center of the room are very comfortable chairs and tables set up. Table cloths are plaid, silver and gold. Red and green flowers have been add as center pieces.

The is a band and choir playing Christmas sang. What would you like to hear?

Do you have a used bookstore near you where you could buy a couple of his books? I'm sure Allen could make suggestions what to look for to get you started. Or, I saw copies of this book for sale online for I think around 3 or 4 dollars. 😶

A lifetime ago, I started with "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress". While not one of my personal favorites, don't forget he wrote "Starship Troopers". "Stranger in a Strange Land" is very good as long as you grok it. He did 3 series that overlapped each other:
Future History series
Lazarus Long series
The Heinlein juveniles
You'll have to figure out what works, both short stories and books, fall into what series... I'm not going to take all the fun out of it for you.

If possible, I recommend starting with "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress". If you enjoy it you'll come to realize why I suggested it first.
