What is happening

Yesterday I went to a dragon festival. The people that helped put it on compare fossils and dragon folk lore around the word.

There were some plant fossils that looked like dragon scales. I'll post pictures if I can get some to up load.

There was also a Chinese dragon dance and a fire dancer.

Sounds like fun. Here they make a big deal about Chinese New Year and we had a street parade along the waterfront with dragon dancers and then a concert at night with them glowing under blacklight. I tried to take photos but all I got was vividly coloured blurs.

Seeing the fossils and compering them to the folk lore makes you wonder. When does history becomes myth?

That's a very good question, Maw. It also works the other way around - when does myth become history?

The usual answer is that it becomes history when it is written down - but there's no guarantee that what was written down wasn't a legend in the first place.

I doubt it, because they died out millions of years before the first hominids.

Last Sunday, I was visiting my sister in the Hospital, She was watching A soap Opera and commenting on how much they were not like real life, Today as I was standing on my brothers porch with him and 7 of my remaining sisters, I was thinking on how much I miss her already. My sister passed away in her sleep this morning, She had decided she was tired, and told her doctors to turn off the machines and stop the drugs. She is with her Husband and Daughter now. I hope when my time comes, I can face my time to go with the same strength and courage she did.

No, we visited Kiruna (the ESA "space town" of the North) in Sweden and drove past Narvik in Norway. Tornio/Haparanda was a fun experience, you can literally walk across the border.

Just saw Wonder Woman. Loved this one. It had just enough humor without being silly or too serious. There was some destruction, yes, but on a more believable scale than the recent Superman movies. In fact, I think WW is the best DC movie since The Dark Knight.

Went to the IMAX with Boo a couple of weeks ago and we watched Transformers: "The Last Knight" in 3D...

Had been a while since I'd been to an IMAX, ended up there a month or so back to see Wonder Woman - had seriously forgotten how far beyond just "a big cinema screen" that it is.

Enjoyed the movie too.

Has been a while since I was on here, need to post a bit of an update when I get a minute...will do that from an actual computer though rather than my phone.

I gave up going to see moves. It tends to give me headaches. I might try again now that I have new glasses.

My Sister also got bad headaches when watching movies in a theater, she found that sitting in the last row of seats gave her eyes a break from straining and shifting, her eye doctor explained that movies sometimes shift the scenes so much that her eyes were almost always refocusing, which after so long she would get a headache. With the wider field from further back she found it more comfortable to her eyes.
She has also since had a cornea transplant, which helped also.

Been a real rotten couple of days here weather wise thanks to a Polar Blast passing up the country, No snow here thankfully, but plenty or freezing rain and damned cold weather.

Cold. And wind. And slips on roads. And ten metre waves in Cook Strait. Branches from the trees around our carpark are all over the yard and the footpath and the road outside. Something that anybody who plants silver birch should take into account.
I was walking down Featherston St today with the wind in my face while on the other side of the road a flag was flying in the opposite direction. I also managed to lose my umbrella - not that it is much use in Wellington except as a walking-stick.

Our summer's been unseasonably cool so far, with only a few days where temps have hit the 20 C mark. However, people are dying of heatstroke in Southern Europe.

Know what you mean Vyon. If I hadn't needed to do the shopping on Wednesday and Thursday and the Washing on Friday, I doubt I would have left the house at all.

I didn't leave the house at all Wednesday or Thursday, even to go downstairs to do the washing. I didn't think Friday was the sort of day anyone would want to go and have lunch with their mother-in-law, but Claire disagreed - so out came the longjohns, the waterproof bicycle pants, several merino jerseys, a polar fleece, the Greenpeace rain-jacket and the hat made out of half-inch thick handmade Mongolian felt - the one I'm wearing on my avatar.

(Stop laughing, Canadians, we're used to howling gusty gales, but not "feels like 2 degrees" on our weather forecast.)

I retrieved my umbrella from the Railway Station Metro supermaket today. It's back to normal winter Wellington weather except for people who still have power cuts, washed-out access, or need to drive to Auckland.
