They're a mixed bag, aren't they - even in the same department. I like it when a specialist asks if they can have a student observing. The student knows all the intelligent questions to ask and the specialist is in the mood to answer because he's in teaching mode instead of god mode. I've had two run-ins with the cardio specialists at the hospital here. The first time, my GP didn't like the look of the electrocardiogram she'd just taken and put me down to see a specialist. Four months later I get to see him. Instead of looking at the electrocardiogram that had just been taken he took the doctor's one that had cost me $60.00, asked two questions, and then said there was nothing wrong. Last year after I got sent to A&E with what turned out to be the same issue, I got sent to a different specialist, a charming flame-haired Irish woman who ordered a battery of tests and scans which happened over Christmas. Remind me not to wear a sports bra next time I have to have a 24 hour monitor fitted. Anyway, the upshot of all that was that the 24 hour monitor gave the answer we needed. Yes, I have an irregular heartbeat, I've probably had it all my life. No, we don't worry about it unless it's happening more than 20% of the time and yours is 5% and "your heart is strong and healthy and I don't need to see you again," - that's after she'd showed me the scan and how the valves were working. Now, I always knew that I danced to the beat of a different drummer - I just didn't know it was that literal!

I had a med student watch a few RNP and its been very educational , one just shadowed the other took down my medical information, but the stress got to me, too many times I've been asked by meaning folks, about the memememental stuff and its starting to turn sour on me, I have problems yes, but I feel like its a mental poke in the same area by folks one to many times, and I am going to blow up and them start crying with a major mmeltdown. PS sorry some of my real life stress is getting to me. I am about ready to start flaming soon with this, I can understand that we need ssupport but I have hit my maxupm for this in the question and answer ddepartment.

I'm sorry you get so many questions Ginny from people who may mean well but I can tell it is making a stressful situation for you. I hope it calms down soon and that you don't have any melt down as that would be really unpleasant for you and perhaps those who work with you. As I say to my kids "Big Higs and Hugs!"

I got a new phone today, I'd been using a dumb-phone and my eldest son forgot that and sent me a video of himself, his partner and two young sons for my birthday. Which I didn't get on my dumb phone because it only did text and voice. So both sons decided it was time their mother caught up with the 21st century. It was a nice birthday present, BUT it never occurred to me when it was being set up that new phone + old phone number = total confusion. Transferring the number onto the new phone killed the old one. Now I have to learn how to use an Android whether I like it or not!

Mother-in-law is out of the hospital and doing well at home. She has an annex off her daughter's house and daughter and her husband both work so hubby and I were there for 3 days to help out. She's doing well, but it was decided she shouldn't be all alone for a bit longer. There wasn't a lot for us to do as it's early spring and everything is still frozen. I was able to take the dogs for a walk early in the morning before
it got too muddy so had a couple new best friends. ![]() ![]() Back on March 27th, my husbands aunt choked on something at a resturant and ended up with a traceotomy? broken ribs and internal bleeding. I talked to my paramedic son and asked about the ribs and was told if CPR is done properly, you will have either badly cracked or broken ribs. ![]() ![]()

vyon, Your situation reminded me of my mother, she also can not learn how to use a smartphone. When she asks to explain this or that function, which seems understandable, my husband gets angry every time - how she can one not understand this? And I think that my mother, it seems, has come to the age when she is like a child. Once she taught me to turn on the TV, washing machine and use a vacuum cleaner, now I teach her to turn on the computer, use the smartphone and the Internet XD
Although sometimes it seems to me that my children 4 and 6 years old are faster with gadgets, at least they are not afraid to press a random button that can break something in the settings ![]() |

Natalya. Sometimes it's not age that's the problem. I don't use smartphones a) I don't actually need one and b) being left-handed AND on the autistic spectrum, I find the Android software totally without logic. It may be logical to a right-handed programmer but not to me and those like me.

Someone laughed at me and said: "Galaxy A 12 - That's only an entry level phone, you'll just have to ask the nearest 12 year old to explain it to you. If it was really complicated one you'd have to ask a three year old." I don't have a handy 12 year old and the three year old was on the lost video - his father decided Budapest was too close to the Ukraine and they've moved to Dohar for the time being.
The son who gave it to me is a no use as a teacher, but the daughter-in-law is good, and she showed me enough to get started. One feature that I like is that when I activate it the only apps showing are the ones that I'm likely to need immediately, like phone, text, camera - and, of course, Vodafone's advertising! |

We had a bit of excitement yesterday. A brush fire across the street & up a little bit. Too close for comfort. Very windy. I think every fire department in 40 miles was there. Heard sirens going to the fire fore a couple of hours. Ruined 2 home, damaged a third. 4 cars totaled, as well as some sheds. Hubby's friend is lucky, 2 acres burned, no real property damage. I was glad when the all clear went out.

That is terrible. So sad for those who lost their homes. I'm glad you and yours are safe. Where we used to live there were occasional brush fires, never close to houses though.
Vyon, I remember way back when we got our very first computer. Every time it did something different I was afraid I had broken it. I got used to it. We have had our phones for about 12 years (not the same ones, of course) and I like being able to text our kids. I also use it for Facebook as it seems that is "better" there than on my Nook. I am sure you'll get used to yours.

While I was at the grocery store my husband got an annoying scam call.
Phone rings. Man's voice. "Hi!" Jeff says, "Hi." Man says, "do you know who this is?" Jeff, "No" Man, "Your grandson!" Jeff hung up. For starters he said the man sounded older than our OWN kids. We do not have any grandchildren and do not anticipate any. The scam goes that "your grandchild is either in jail or been in an accident and needs money" So. You "need" to go buy gift cards and read the activation numbers off the back to the scammers to "rescue" your grandchild. This is a new one for us. Usually it is "car warranty expiration/solar panels/medicare" scammers. These evil people need to get a job and not bother others! ![]()

I can do that with the Cell but the landline does not have caller ID. We "could" let every single call go to the answering machine but I personally hate when people do that. It is not a big deal, I just like to grumble about scammers trying to take advantage of people. We also get reminders for appointments and the occasional call from a friend on the landline. I'd hate to miss those friend calls.

Had some fun or at least a laugh at work this weekend. I am now the senior cashier at the Walmart that I work at and the interesting customers somehow find their way to my register.
First on Thursday someone tried to resurrect a scam that has been dead for three years in our area. I guess they figured with all of the new cashiers at my store that they would get away with it. Then of course they choose the one cashier who has caught it THREE TIMES. It went over about the way you would expect it to as in it didn't and the fraudulent coupons they were using wound up ripped to spreads. It involves coupons that are worth more than the item purchased and instead of the register not accepting them they go through. Unless of course the cashier is very sharp. I can cut like a knife when I am running my register. Second I have had 9 people try exchanges at my register this weekend. It is known that all exchanges go through our customer service desk and we can't even get into the part of the computer that processes them at the register. Third and for me the funniest one. I'm ringing someone up near the end of my shift Friday when someone interrupted and asked me a question that I had to have repeated. He asked me if we exchanged foreign currency. Now there might possibly be stores near one of our borders with Canada and Mexico that do but once you get into flyover country it ain't happening. In that case you go to a bank or if there is one local a money changer. The closest border to me is not quite 200 miles away at the Detroit/Windsor border crossing. So no I can't change your money. Saturday it is a slow night and I was looking forward to shutting my register down 10 to 15 minutes early. Well that didn't happen but a $1000+ sale did. OF CAR TIRES. Our auto service center was already closed so guess who got to ring them up? You would think that wouldn't take much time just ring up ten or so tires and that is that. Except in Indiana I have to enter the DOT (Department Of Transportation) number off of each of them and due to the lack of contrast of black on black they can be impossible for me to read. Then at the end the buyers name, address, and phone number so the sale can be registered. Yeah I had words for that sale none of which I could say out loud. I am hoping Monday goes better but don't think it will since it has been that kind of weekend. |

We still pay a lot of bills by check and have a checking account at the bank. Some bills get paid by credit card. Our kids have bank accounts that I think are somehow linked to their phones and they pay all their bills that way. When I order items from a cousin in Texas I send her a check and she has no trouble depositing it.

Well the fuel supply issues in England continue. That's two of my cars now effectively off the road as they're running on fumes and I've not been able to find anywhere with diesel since the start of last week.
Apparently a couple of the supermarket filling stations are still getting sporadic deliveries, but they're usually dry again within a couple of hours. Petrol still generally seems to be more or less available so long as you don't mind waiting in a queue for 15 minutes or so to get to the pumps...diesel though is just nowhere. |

Our next door neighbors had chickens a few years ago. They all got eaten by foxes or other local predators. Then they had "rental chickens" for a couple years but when the husband who was "in charge" no longer lived there the chickens and rental coop disappeared. Today we noticed a NEW coop has appeared in their back yard. Most likely rental again. The question is who will care for them? We used to have the chickens visit the area under our bird feeders and then Mr. Neighbor would come with a long stick and "herd" them back home. We have very quiet but sometimes entertaining neighbors.
![]() Really sorry about the diesel fuel, Zelandeth. ![]()

SpaceCowboy, you have to register vehicle tires? That's a new one for me.
We're having a fairly typical spring, sun, snow and more sun. We are a bit below normal for temps though, we haven't been above freezing in a week. There is a reason I never planned an outside birthday party for the boys. ![]() There's a city a few hours away where you can rent chickens for a couple days a week to clean the slugs out of your gardens. A keeper comes and sets up a temporary fence around the garden and lets the hens run. Those birds absolutely love slugs and will search them out. Too bad nobody around here does the same. I could make some hens very happy. ![]()

Yeap they register tires because of a 25 cent fee that is collected on them. It is supposed to keep them out of landfills. The funny thing is there is a $12 deposit fee charged on batteries
for the same reason and we don't have to collect the same information. It's come in select the battery pay your money including the deposit and out you go. Of course most of the time the deposit is returned because the battery or the one it replaced is brought back. I would say the one on the batteries works better. Normally items from the departments like auto, electronics, and sporting goods are paid for in the department but if they don't have a register open then they are brought up for a front end cashier to ring them up. Usually me due to age restrictions on some items. Any cashier can ring up a knife but you have to be at least 18 to ring up things like ammo or air guns. I am the only cashier that they know for sure is old enough. Quote:

Thanks! On April Fool's day, I played a joke on some people. It started with my day nurse! She was writing the date on a dry erase board and I told her "April 39th". She said" huh?? " I then blurted out "April fool!" We laughed and I ( laying in bed) kicked my feet in glee! They fell for it! I had planned it from the night before!

No. Didn't know that! Yesterday, I had some trouble finding this website. But last night, found the link for it! That's how I got back in! Several times while I was in the hospital, a guy named Jason with energy consultants would call me. I told him "no" each time he'd call! If I get a call from him next time I'm in the hospital, I might ask for his number so I could report him.
