What is Happening, part II

Now bossy girl is telling me I should have waited till around the first of next month for her to set up my transportation. Last time she did that, she did NOT give me the confirmation number!

Tahoes are a huge vehicle, must not get great gas mileage. However, if it's paid off I guess it is worth it. We did that with our 15 year old Mazda6, kept it when we got a new Honda Accord last year. We now have 3 vehicles (including a little Mazda3) and 3 garage spaces. The 6 has snow tires so it is the winter "bad weather" car. That is what I drive all the time.

When I was growing up, my mom had a car that my two brothers and I called "The Tank". It was a strong car, survived many cars hitting it! Another time, my dad had a beige car, that one day, decided to start idling after he parked it in the carport. I happened to look to my right while sitting in the family room (watching tv) and saw some smoke drift past the patio door! I jumped up and told my parents I saw smoke. Dad had to get that car out of the carport! There was a scorch mark in the hood of the car! Bossy girl put her popcorn in the microwave and it burnt, my fault! Her refrain is "if it ain't yours, don't mess with it or touch it." Popcorn wasn't mine! Left it alone. My fault she put it in for too long!

I have blossoms on some of the pumpkin plants. I never get too excited about them. Some years the pumpkins do great and other years almost nothing. One year I grew a huge one that was about 50 pounds as well as a number of smaller ones. Last year I think I got 3 little ones. Depends on rainfall, temperature, sun or lack of. All sorts of things. I am happy not to be a farmer!

There's a plant that has vines that you're not supposed to touch while it's growing. Don't recall which one.

I think it might be pumpkin vines that you're not supposed to touch, might affect the growth of the pumpkin!

One time, a guy said he had a rash on his back, so I looked at it. A few days later, I had itching on my legs. I think it was poison ivy, I got it from touching the shirt, then spread it to my legs! Second hand contact. A while later, it caused me to have dry skin on my legs. When my older brother was a teenager, mom (the one who gave birth to me) told him, "Don't go in the woods", every spring/summer. He was/is allergic to poison ivy. He'd go in the woods anyhow. Another trip to the allergy doctor!

I'm not sure it's pumpkin vines you shouldn't touch. Google had a video of someone trimming a pumpkin vine with clippers and holding the vine with the other hand.

Poison ivy is very unpleasant!

I've grown pumpkins a few times. While they weren't huge they were big enough to get 3 or 4 pies each. One year I had to ask a gardening friend what exactly I was growing, had very oddly shaped and coloured leaves. Turns out it was a cross between a pumpkin and a zucchini, we dubbed it a punkini. I shredded it and used it in muffins and some coffee cakes, was very yummy. This year I'm trying cantalope and honey dew melons. So far they look pretty good so here's hoping.

It's been so nice to get rain. We could almost watch the lawn greening up. There's a small slough on the trail I walk and it's been dry all year, the other day when I went past there were a few puddles in it. The puddles are good as it means there ground is saturated and maybe it can start filling again.

A lot of the tests and surgeries that got delayed because of covid are finally getting caught up. Our eldest has been waiting almost 3 years to get a nerve in his one arm fixed. All they have to do it make a small incision on the underside of his elbow and move the nerve back into place, pop in a couple stitches and he should be good to go. Right now his hand is very tingly and sometimes doesn't always work as it should. He's also booked in for an advanced EKG that's been almost as long a wait.

Mausey, I had some very odd cross pumpkins a few years ago. Might have been zucchini mix. I've never grown pumpkins to cook with. Mine are strictly for carving. I am lazy. My pumpkin pies have my homemade crust but the filling is right out of a can. I have grown cantelopes, they are harder to get any fruit out of than pumpkin, I found. Best of luck with them.

I hope your eldest gets his surgery soon, and the EKG.

My barrier started leaking overnight again! I fervently wish they'd quit leaking so much! It's the one I got from bossy girl yesterday! I know I'm NOT messing with them to make them leak! I just have excessive output from my stoma! I can't help it! Can't control the output! Looking forward to when I don't have the ostomy anymore! Back in 2004-2005, when I had a colostomy(part of my sigmoid colon had died) it didn't leak like this!

I hope my nurse comes tomorrow! Then she could change my system for me! Even though I know how to change it. The other day, bossy girl told on me to mom. Mom told her I'm not to touch the boxes my stuff is in, bossy girl gives me the barriers as I need them. Mom thinks I'm going through them too fast. Back when my intestines were asleep I had the same system about a week or so!

Tomorrow night, Friday night and Saturday matinee the Shoreline Theater Company in Branford, CT is putting on Chicago, The Musical. Our daughter's boyfriend is the music director of the Company. We are going Friday. I have seen short "teaser" video - looks wonderful, can't wait!

There are a lot of musicals I've never seen! I did see the musical "Cats" on tv years ago. Also saw "The making of Cats the musical." A man played the part of Old Deuteronomy. In the musical, I had thought Deuteronomy would choose the old theatre cat (his hands shook) to go to the heavieside (sp?) layer!

I have to wonder if bossy girl is messing with it after you go to sleep. You have to admit, it sounds like something she would do.

I don't know. Yesterday, I was slightly in her room, she told me "if you're leaking, get out of my room." She had to mop her floor. Might have to tell her tonight I'm leaking again! Been around my roommate today, she didn't see my hands going under my shirt to mess with the system! If she had, she'd have told me not to mess with the system!

Sounds like fun, with Audio Discription a vollenteer that is trained to do it, can tell us folks with low or no vision is what is going o on, sorry, my fingers are not typing good, but they have programs addaped for folks with special needs, I still need to gget that information up, most of the time, its finding folks to do it. depending how much pre-production time there is.

Boy do I recall that Zen Hugs from USA I had a 'commpressed nearved' 2009 and had the same type of work, I hope he has help, and a flat I used a pillow made of a egg creat fomine ' to lay it on, I slep in my then other half reclinder the first night, then my bed, when the feeling come s back bybehind the ebhel its going to be very sentivety when returning the feeling to it, and the way they did mine was a moded half and half , what they used for casts and a ace banges the first time not so bad, buboy it iched ,second part the extercises were the worst, that the third part returning feeling, tward the end, is kinda pain full, even after the fact. note, mine was the last two fingers left hand lost feeling and I cound't not even hold my long white ccane in it. but I am think ing it might be the same way, for your olderst, if you want to check in the archives here I think I may have posted about it, being one handed, and tththere is a program for typing one handed,friend useed don't recall the name of it just saying and trying my best to help. I had some odd looking pumpkins come out of a compost heap at a house I was renting. They were bright yellow and the shape of a short, fat marrow or kumikumi without the ridges or an overgrown yellow zucchini - and inside it was all stringy. That was my first encounter with a spaghetti squash and I had no idea what to do with it.

System stayed good overnight! My roommate wants many cups of coffee per day, I had used a small amount of sugar per cup, now she's complaining that "there's a quarter of a container of sugar left! Shouldn't be that low! " My fault for that! Something goes wrong, my fault! Even if I didn't do it! Yesterday, it was hot in the house, I didn't have permission to turn on the ac! I should have done it withOUT permission? Next time it starts to get hot in the house, I'll turn on the ac!

Vyon, we have spaghetti squash here too. I've never cooked it or eaten any. I prefer yellow summer squash.

At the store today I bought what I hope will be a good scrubbing brush for the bird bath. It is cement and gets pretty messy as the weather warms up. We have a small pressure washer but I mostly use that just once at the end of summer before I cover this bath and bring out the winter one. At the start of the season the regular hose does a fair job keeping it clean. Hopefully this brush clears it up.

I left my system alone earlier, I just now saw it's leaking! I told bossy girl "it's leaking again, I did nothing to make it leak! You saw where my hands were earlier!" She said, "I don't want to hear it." I don't know when my nurse will be here.

When it started leaking, I put some toilet paper to block my waste, bossy girl said that made it leak worse! It was leaking on the left, right and the bottom! She told mom and mom said she'd phone my doctor to get me in a nursing home. If I could text my doctor, I'd tell him that I don't do anything to make my systems leak! I'd ask him to text me back, no phone calls! I have another system on, but it's leaking! Not stuffing it! I don't know why I leak so much.

I've decided to tape toilet paper on top of the leaking parts so the leaky areas don't get worse! Hope my nurse comes today! I think I know why and how my barriers start leaking! Having to be bossy girl's slave! If I do get sent to a nursing home, she'll have to find someone else to be her slave!

Just now heard the U.S. Supreme court has overturned roe vs wade. Found out a little while ago that I'd been discharged from home health care. Missed some appts and they couldn't get a hold of me! Texted my doctor to have him do another referral for them to start coming out again!

Civic fireworks last night. A new celebration to mark Matariki - The Pleiades rising from the eastern horison at dawn and the beginning of the planting season. It was interesting to watch how people celebrated a completely new holiday. A few people around here put Christmas lights on their houses. There are three universities with campuses here and that meant a lot of students wandering around carrying cartons of beer. Families headed to the waterfront to watch lightshows on prominent buildings and the fireworks. My favourite firework-watching spot was absolutely crowded. I go on the "City-to-Sea" bridge, partly a walkway over a main highway, partly a ginormous artwork, partly a grandstand for watching activities in the artificial lagoon below it. If I go down on the waterfront I'm likely to finish up watching some point between the shoulderblades of the person in front of me. Fortunately it was a calm and not too cold night, because I could either sit and freeze waiting 25 minutes for a bus home or spend that 25 minutes walking home and getting here at the same time as the bus. I walked.

Had to change the system yet again! My tablet died in the night. So my alarms never went off. Set every 2 hours to sound. Gonna put tablet back on charger soon.

We will be having fireworks around here this weekend and at least several more weekends after. Technically they are for July 4. Many places have them a week or two before or after with the excuse that it is cheaper. I don't see why several towns could not go in together to pay to have them on the 4th?

Fire works have already started here! I remember one year, my older brother threw a fire cracker at me, it went off right between my legs, I screamed in fright. He thought it was so funny. If I'd had a heart attack, wonder what he would have done then! When he came into the screened in patio, I blurted out " no wonder I don't like you! " Later he told me that I made him lose face. Never would have said it if he'd not scared me like that!

It's the middle of winter here. Walking home was definitely a warmer option. Surely a civic fireworks display costs the same whatever day it's held? Here it's a matter of hiring the barge and loading it, and if it was too windy they have alternative dates. Wellington didn't wait for Matariki to be declared a public holiday, last year we didn't get the fireworks because the weather was bad and stayed bad. The year before a whale visited our harbour and they cancelled the fireworks because they didn't want to scare him.
