Back in the 80s, I met four actors that played the Doctor!! Jon Pertwee, Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy! 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th!! In 1987, had a chance to meet Patrick Troughton, but he died before I could!! Patrick played the 2nd Doctor!! I met Anthony Ainley (He played the Master)! The Master stole the body of Nyssa's father! At a convention, had a picture taken with Colin, when the pictures came back, a coworker thought Colin was my dad!!! I told her, "My dad sure doesn't look like that!!"

I met David McCallum back in the early 70's when I was a student in the UK. He was gracious, quiet and interested in talking with a small group of us. He was on campus to attend a choir concert his mother was in that was being held in our large Hall. Small world. I have a photo of him with 3 of us.

The day Patrick died was when I met Anthony Ainley!! I asked him to give Patrick a belated birthday card and have Patrick sign a Doctor Who book, I didn't see the look of pain cross Anthony's face (Patrick died earlier that day). I was sitting in a room with a bunch of tables, heard one person tell the second person, "Doctor Who died." I jumped up from my seat, said, " Doctor Who died? Which one?? " Neither one spoke, I suddenly realized who it was. I went back to my seat and cried!! Later, someone told me not to tell anyone that Patrick was dead. I asked George Takei about a doctor character he had played on Macgiver! The person who forbade me heard the word "doctor" and thought I was talking about Doctor Who! I told the man I was talking about Macgiver!!! At 4 pm (the time Patrick was supposed to talk) Roland Castle told the fans the bad news! A reporter from the Columbus,Ga newspaper asked a fan, "What went through your head when you heard Patrick Troughton was dead?" ( fan didn't know till then). Fan asked" Patrick Troughton's dead???? " Before Roland had to break the bad news, the dealer's room was in a somber mood. After the bad news, Roland had to decide whether or not to continue the convention, he chose to continue. He felt that that's what Patrick would have wanted!!

How sad, Zen Hugs, I haven't been to one of this type of convention, only a few that were related to my type of disibility, and more background on Aging and Disibilityy, I don't live near the biggescities in my state, but thanks to this sites, and books I feel like a traveler a armchair one. I recall that their are different Doctor Who, didn't understand at first ttill Iread a bith more on the background , thanks to what was on line, and a few Fanfic. I got a good idea for this BBC show I think, never saw one, so I don't mean to be disrespectable , may have been on cable BBC America but didn't watch that one that much or SSicFic sp on my hasy memory.

In the 70s and 80s, Doctor Who would come on GPTV! Channel 8 in the Atlanta, Ga area!! I remember the first one I saw!! It was the last part of The Seeds of Doom!! When Tom Baker was the 4th Doctor!! I was hooked right then and there!!! At my high school, we voted for different things, one of the things was most likely to be a companion to Doctor Who!! I voted for myself! But the person that got that nomination was someone I'd NEVER seen at any Terminus Tardis meeting!! Terminus Tardis was the local Doctor Who fan club!!
