Since something somwhere said that I could introduce myself here, I figured I would.

A little about me: My name is Katy but I don't really care what you call me as long as it's not rude. I live in the US or Texas to be exact. I'm a huge reader and my room loooks like a small library with all the books I have. Besides Anne Mccaffrey, some of other favorite authors are Brian Jaques, R. A. Salvatore, J. R. R. Tokein, Suzanne Collins (only the Gregor the Overlander books, tried to read the Hunger Games and couldn't get past the part where they're on the train going to the Capital), and several others that I can't think of right now. I attempted to read Twilight and after about fifty pages, I got sick of reading it, wanted to find every single copy I could and burn them.

I was first introduced to Anne Mccaffrey's books by my dad, though he's never read them himself, thanks to a reccomendation from a couple of my aunts, when he gave me Dragonflight, Dragonquest, and The White Dragon for my twelfth birthday. The second I started reading Dragonflight I was hooked and when I finished TWD I kept looking around going "Where's the next book?"

Of the probably forty or so books I've read by her, the only books that I've found that I do not like are the Acorna books, the first two were OK but I got maybe thirty pages into Acorna's People and couldn't read farther because I was bored out of my mind.

My favorite series would have to be the Pern books, followed by the Freedom books and The Tower and the Hive series.

If anybody happens to recognize my username for some strange reason, it's probably because my most commonly used username is Katiana56, though I've also gone by Riverpebble on a couple of sites.

Welcome Katy...thank you for telling us a bit about you. Quite a few MoMer's have been introduced to Anne writings, by an older family member, passing down their books to the younger generation. I have also done this with my girls as well.

Thanks to everybody for welcoming me.

It's rather nice to find a place where everybody has read Anne's books and is a fan of them. Besides a couple of my aunts and some of my cousins who I see rarely, I have yet to meet more than one other person in RL that has actually read her books, and she graduated last year so I was left with no one to talk to about the books.

My mom isn't a reader and my two brothers who are/were both huge readers, I could never convince to read the books. And now one's off at college eleven hours away, and I hear from him every four to eleven days if I'm lucky and he remembers to text me, and the other moved out and went to Ohio which is even farther away.

You're lucky you at least get snow. I used to live in Illinois before moving to Texas and absolutely loved the weather there. Now I live within half an hour of the Texas/Mexico border and the coldest it gets about ninety percent of the time, if we get a good cold front, is the high fifties. Last Febuary it actually got into the low thirites and stayed there and in the high twenties long enough for my school to finally say "Ok we're letting you guys out at two o'clock and you get Friday off." (was a Thursday). There were a lot of car crashes that weekend. When you combine slightly iced over roads with people that have a hard time driving 100% of the time, let alone in rain, it's not going to be a pretty sight.

Welcome aboard! Nice to see some new faces again. I was also introduced to Pern by my dad, even though he hadn't read the books himself at the time. I got Moreta and Nerilka for my birthday (more than 25 years ago...) and the first six 9th Pass books the following Christmas. My family complained they didn't see enough of me that Christmas vacation, as I spent most of it in my room reading.

My favorite series is The Tower and the Hive and my favorite Pern book is Moreta.

Hello. I actually found this while looking for something else, and then was quite happy to see what I'd found. I'm Sarah, I've got a degree in psychology, I'm a voracious reader, and I really don't know what else to say.

Oh. A cria is a baby camelid, but particularly in my case, a baby llama.

And the first Anne McCaffrey book I read was Dragonflight in seventh or eighth grade because my friend was reading one of the Pern books (can't remember which one anymore), and I peeked over her shoulder and got curious about Thread.

Hi, I'm Beth and just found this forum. I am 44 years old and have been reading Anne's books since I was in 7th grade. I finally decided to give Todd's a try and finished the last one last night. I don't get online a lot, but once in a while, I plop down and peruse. I have two active, busy kids, and I work cleaning houses. I love tea and drink pots of it while reading anything that I can get my hands on. I have a loving husband and a couple of great cats and some fish. That's about it. My favorite characters of Anne's are Robinton and F'lar.
