So Cal Gather 2009 - A Meeting of Minds

Just thought I'd give a shout out to see if anyone wanted to suggest a tenative date for our gather, which we agreed should be held in Late April or May instead of June because of the heat. I'm inclined to think the weekends either before or after Mother's Day(which is May10th this year). Hey Sharron, how does grilled shrimp sound to you?

Palm Sunday, Passover, and Easter are the first three weeks of April. And the 24th of May is definately out for Crystal, as she is going back to Indiana for Aunt Helen And Uncle Mark's 50th Wedding Anniversary. If there are any other Sundays that someone can't come it's best to let us know now before the end of this monthif possible.

So that leaves us with April 19th, April 26th, May 3rd, May 17th and May 31st as the dates that are open. And then June is wide open except, of course, for Father's Day on the 21st.

This is my Flicker site with all the pictures of all the gathers that we have had so far, as well as shots of the parks where we had them. I'm still working out the kinks, but should be able to see them all.

( Oh by the way . . . . If anyone has a shot of that big shield banner I did at the Forest Shelter area, please send it to me. I was so busy directing the hanging and trying to keep the wind from ripping it, that I forgot to get any pictures of it.)

I was really hoping to go this time, but unless something drastic changes we wont make it. We are moving April 20-22 and Hubby has a lay off date of May1st. If we can find work we will definitely try!

Some one mentioned themes for this gather. Well how about Westerns? I have a 3 CD Box set of Western Themes from both Movies and TV Series. They may not be the original themes, but in most cases close enough to pass.

I'm picturing certian individuals with Stetsons on, in blue/black/brown/beige jean, and maybe a leather vest on. Not all that unusual considering all the hourse owners out this direction. Wait a minute, a couple Native Americans just came strolling into view and they don't look all that different from the other cowhands.

I have opened a new set for our gather pictures when we get them and the first two in there are a picture Michel and Crystal had done at Knotts Berry Farm a few years ago that I made into a wanted poster for the gather.

Hope you can make it, Pernaficionado. By the way, I finally got the Ren Faire Pictures Crystal took last year up if you want to check them out. I know you had one there when we headed up there to see you. The one we have here lasts from April 4th to May 17th. and it's located at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation area in Irwindale CA just off the 210.

This year she has yet to remember the camera, so we'll have to wait for those.

Thanks for putting the photos up, I've had a look and now I want to save up and come but there's other ulterior motives (like visiting my sister as well, except she moved north and doesn't live in California now). We'd probably (there's 3 of us) have to stay at a motel or someone's house if that's the case. Hmm goes off to discuss with hubby about possible trip to the USA next year.

and then the tide turns again! Hubby swapped Training days w/someone else so NOW he starts Tuesday! Plans back on, and I am hoping too be able to duck any more 180's

I am really tired of this roller coaster and I WANNA GET OFF!

Its up and down and I am beginning to think I won't know for sure until I am actually there or not on Sunday. I will keep you all posted. Dena-save me some floor space just in case!

Hubby says it will be 2 years before we go to the USA, on account that there's 3 of us to save up for. Junior wants to go to Noumea first. Plus we want to go to Queensland so it's a case of do we go local or overeseas.....

Pernaficionado, Let us know by phone when you get here. Saturday Crystal will be at the Ren Faire up in Irwindale, and she would love the company if your up to it, and if not we can all look forward to the pictures Sunday at the gather.

jube, Queensland is closer and probably less expensive to get too for you right now, so I'd be inclined to go there first, and what you don't spend there can go towards the next trip. I'm not sure where or what Noumea is, but it's probably closer than our gather too. Don't worry, we plan on being here to celebrate 10 years of gathers the summer of 2012. You could always plan for that one!

Noumea is in New Caledonia which lies in the Pacific Ocean. It is one of Junior's school excursions to practise his French lingual skills. Before school holidays, he wanted to go then today he tells me that he doesn't want to go so it's something I will have to have a chat with his teachers about it.

Well, Pernaficinado arrived at Moonlady's last night and with any luck, they are now spending the day at the Ren Faire with my daughter Ladydragonrider. She promised faithfully to call as soon as they all met, but I'm not counting on hearing anything till after noon. She has her camera with her so I will be posting pictures on the Flickr site tonight of their merry adventures.

Tomorrow is the gather!

So, Murphy is bringing a cheese cake, pasta salad, and fruit salad. Dena is bringing a salad. I'm bringing a fruit/vegie/cheese tray. And Sharon is fixing skewed shrimp, skewed chicken, and bratwurst. So far the menu looks pretty good.

We really should start discussing the 10th Anniversary Gather of 2012. What kind of games we want? How many people we can get to come? We really want it to be a memorable occasion and maybe last more than one afternoon.
