BD1, I'm confused. I thought you mentioned in another thread (something related to a virtual Solstice Gather) that you did not have a phone? Perhaps a landline rather than a cellphone is available.

Now I'm even more confused. Yesterday at 4:44 BD1 you mentioned having a good phone appointment? Unless this happened with your tablet, which is not a phone but I guess can have phone like characteristics? I think you can do Zoom meetings or something on these things but I've never tried it.

It's always fun to see the ISS.

Many years ago, I was able to see the Space Shuttle chasing down the ISS, about a day before they docked. (I did see the ISS that night, as that was how I knew I saw the shuttle.)

That must have been amazing! I'll show my age. My family was visiting a friend in Florida and we were about 10 miles or so from Cape Canaveral when John Glenn went up! We were able to see it quite well but this was long before our having any way of recording it or taking pictures.

Years and years ago, my dad would sometimes go down to near Cape Canaveral on a construction job (the foreman). After he'd get back, he'd say he saw the shuttle liftoff. I never got to see it myself.

When I worked at Boeing Wichita I got to see one of the shuttles, Columbia I think, sitting on the back of its 747 transport plane. It had the tail streamlining engine cover on it. I had an 8x10 photo of it for years. I don't know what happened to that picture.

I can remember climbing through a neighbour's farm hedge to find a place with a clear view of the Sputnik I as it went over, probably with my grandmother, because she was the one who was always interested in what was going on in the sky.

I remember when it was launched. We lived in North St. Louis County, but I think there was too much light interference to see it going over. At least I don't remember seeing it. But my memory's not all that nowadays, either.

I made it to town & back with no problems. Got new glasses, paid insurance & did some shopping. First productive day in a week.

Good for you! I have an eye doctor appointment in a couple weeks. The last month or so my eyes have been very tired doing close work. Distance is still fine (I have bifocals) but I definitely need the near part changed so it will mean new glasses.

I'm so glad you love the washing machine. We had a huge tub at our other house and have one here as well. The one here has never been used by us (We did not install it, it came with the house) and the only time the tub got used at the other house was as a mini swimming pool in winter when our kids were little. We are shower, not bath people.

There wasn't much to see, just a tiny twinkly dot moving across the sky. We were on a dairy farm up a narrow country lane five miles out of town so there wasn't any light pollution. I just looked up the place on Google Maps. The place we watched it from appears to be an accountant's office and the narrow country lane the main city bypass going North or West.

The Russians never announced the launch of Sputnik 1. We only knew about it because a bunch of Manchester Schoolboys were keen radio hams and heard its radio signals on a random wavelength.

I was only 5 years old. Seems like a very long time ago. My dad was born in 1897. He grew up riding in a horse and buggy and lived to see man land on the moon!

I was barely one when the first Sputnik launched, but I do remember the first moon landing. Our parents let us stay up late and watch it on TV.

I was 17 so a junior in high school. We did have a tv, black and white still I believe. I don't have any vivid memories of watching it though I suppose we did.

Thanks, r'zil. I think it was black and white. I remember, one time my mom entered a raffle for (a dollar) a color tv. She won the tv. We had it for a long time. I think I should be able to "!" if and when I want. How would that person feel if their free speech was stepped on as mine is?

An old man I knew refused to believe the moon landing happened. According to him They couldn't stand on the moon because gravity would pull them back to earth.

I have a doctor's appointment March 22. Gonna see when I get the reversal surgery while I'm there! This Wednesday, I see the home healthcare nurse for the last time. She gave me a phone number to call when I need more supplies. I hope she brings a portable scale to check my weight.

If you see a picture of some mountain climbers on the top of a mountain, look at what's in the background! The CURVE of the earth! A flat planet wouldn't have a curve to it.

Depending on the storm track we could get 8 to 10 inches of snow on Saturday. Of course it's the day all of us planned to celebrate my son's birthday. The next weekend will have to be it!

3 out of four of that live here are sick. Kibby is fine. My sister got a Covid test, has not got results yet.
All 3 of us coughing, headache, and slight fever. I hope Tammy gets her results back tomorrow.
Kibby is suppose to work Friday. First time in two weeks
If test is positive she'll be out 10 days. Don't think boss will be happy. They have been very understanding about her shoulder.

My right arm has been hurting since yesterday afternoon. That's the arm I got the shot in. I could not sleep on my right side last night. A bit sleepy/tired this morning.
