Nothing New on Ebay?

Ok, so is it me, or has there been nothing new on ebay since that color map was posted?

Just need to know if I have been missing on the cool stuff or if there has not been any cool stuff to miss.

Hmmm, not sure what you're referring to JJ. My eBay is the same old one. As far as I'm concerned you haven't missed anything, but then I don't know what you might be looking for either.
There was one day that had a new look to eBay but it was a one time thing and when right back to the old eBay the next day.
Maybe you can Google eBay and see what comes up instead of using a
"favorites" link, if you use favorites that is. I don't know if that will work or not but worth a try.

I've been too busy, trying to sell excess books (see my thread books for sale - sorry they're all sold now, barring my mum's book which I haven't relisted yet). Otherwise I'd be looking too! I know I have 4 books in a series to look for then that finishes that off. Plus at least another 4-5 Anne Mccaffrey ones. But they're really expensive and hard to get so I'm just wondering how I can "con" a certain someone in the household to let me spend that amount or just keep plodding along until I have enough to get it (and that's if it comes up again).

There was a really cool colored map of Pern on ebay. It went for several hundred dollars.

Ohh, missed that! I thought you were talking about some map on the eBay opening page. Not a map for sale. I'm glad I didn't see it as it would have been hard to watch it go for so much money.
Now that I know what you're referring to.......no there's not much for sale, I agree.

OK, back from Scotland where we had an absolutely delightful time!

As for the map, it is in Hargreaves with a black & white picture to accompany it (pp. 291-292). The map was produced by Anne McCaffrey herself (Dragonhold Ltd.) in 1982 and it measures 17 5/8 inch by 25 inch.
There are wo states of it, published simultaneously: 25 copies signed and numbered that are hand watercoloured by Ann Callaghan [a friend of Ane's daughter Gigi; Hans] and 75 copies not signed, numbered or coloured.

I am not completely sure this means that Anne also didn't sign the second issue or that Ann Callaghan didn't. I've only seen the coloured one and that is signed by both. The picture in Hargreaves is B&W but is of the coloured one.

Several pictures of this map are to be found in the Pern Museum Maps and Charts section, under "Special Maps", to be found here including a close ups of the signatures.

The copy sold latest on eBay was the one pictures: number 6 of 25. I've only come across on earlier, several years ago if I remember correctly, when it was brought to my attention by Tony (Bagpuss). I think that earlier one was also a coloured one. Both sold for figures outside my budget although not too bad. The last one sold for somewhere around $300 I think

I'm sorry for the low quality of the overall picture. I'll try to get up a better one later.

OOOooohhhh, I wish, but funds don't allow me to buy if $300 is the going price for that map.

I was going to place a bid on a copy of "The Coelura" but was called into work and forgot what time it finished. I'm kinda disappointed in myself that I didn't put a bid on it as it went for under $5Au. There has been 3 different covers of this book and I was going to go for the cheapest one to start off with but..........can you hear me scream? All in disgust, mind you, when I got home.

I do remember the map from Hargreaves but to see it in color is even more wonderful!! I doubt it will ever find its way into my collection tho, not at that price, I'd rather spend the money on books.

Try to find the Wayback Minchine and put in Pern.nl I think you can use it to find it. Sorry I havent';s found or in my case re-found it,, need to have sighted aid to re-set my setting here, and its, here for Hans stop keeping up the site , but you can find it via the wayback michine, the instrucktion are here somewere my placing hypercodes is still to hard, I don't know if they tag ed the post or not.

If I stumble apond it I shall have to cup/paste the whole thing to a new post best I can do till I rremark it in my own bookmarks, not the only one a TV show from the '80' too. PS Thanks for the reminder.

Well I haven't got my PM messages cleaned out yet, I hope she is OK. but If someone could tttag the Wayback Thread for Han's sight then I can use first letter navagation to find it. it. I also have a TV Show that is in there somewere I hope its hadn't gone 'between' to use a tern from heree.

Hans's information would have come from the Hargreaves bibliography of Anne's works. Using Bookfinder.com , I found a number of copies for sale - prices range wildly from $30 to $200. It is a very useful resource for collectors.
