We lost one of Mom's cats today. She had a prolapsed anus. They got it back in last week, but it did not heal right. Vet said he could do surgery, but that she would never have control and would always drip diarrhea. She would have to be kept locked up, which is no way for a cat to live.

I am so sorry, Maw. Our four legged friends are truly members of the family and losing one is a sad occasion.

Our sweetest cat, Happy, has taken a liking to the chocolate lab, Brandy. He will not leave her alone. When Brandy is trying to sleep Happy rubs up against her, same when she is eating, walking or anything else. Brandy growls, Happy does not care. He is driving her bonkers. One of these days Brandy is going to bite Happy. We have locked Happy up just to give Brandy a break.

Maw, our old cat hated the two new kittens so much we had to have a daily schedule in the house so that they were never loose at the same time. He died just before the new year (still miss the grumpy old man) and the young ones are happier. I can see where the poor dog at your place needs a break!

Most of the time the cats and dogs get along extremely well. This one cat is just very insistent on rubbing up against Brandy. Happy has always been one to make friends with anything that come in the house. (except for the rabbit. He even liked the goat). He once tried to mother some baby mice when we disturbed a nest. Right now if he is in he is bugging Brandy.

That would be fun! I used to have a Klingon dictionary that I picked up at a used bookstore. It may still be tucked into the bookshelves someplace. Outer Limits, Twilight Zone and old movies got me started on a life-long love for Science Fiction. Star Trek and then the first three Star Wars movies just kept me moving right along.

It has FINALLY warmed up to being outside bearable. It is suppose be nice all weekend.

I am trying to come up with something to wear at Dragoncon. It has to be fairly cheap, easy to make, and look decent on a larger person. Any ideas?

So, my Dad has motor neurone disease (also known as ALS). The neurologist mentioned it as a worst case possibility a bit before Christmas, and several tests since, it's just been confirmed. Which sucks. He's not in a great way, but - and let me tell you something, seeing the NHS scramble for tests and appointments and specialists from up-country brought down on a Sunday is probably the scariest part, because damn, you don't want to be in a position where the NHS bends over backwards for you -but... well, they're going to talk about medication and other standard of life options next week. So hopefully he'll soon be sleeping better and the muscle/nerve wastage can be steadied.

So, yeah. That's what's going on with me right now. Please, no discussion on Facebook. We're not telling everyone yet, but here is kind of RL anonymous and I just need to vent with people who know me.

I started taking swing dance lessons two weeks ago and I love it. I hope I can keep it up while in grad school.

Keep me and Boaz (ds#1) in your thoughts. We need to survive the next 6 months. He is spending the summer with his dad. It will be the first time in over 8 years that he will be living with his dad. At this point all he does is fight with me. I can say its yellow and he'll say blue. If he doesn't work on his attitude, then I'll be kicking him out at 18 which is a year away. Our latest argument was when I told a friend's daughter it was okay to watch Dr. Who on Netflix. He was yelling at me that she would lose my place. Even after I told him it was okay, that I would find my place again, he kept yelling. It was ridiculous and emotionally exhausting. Anyhow, I'm hoping that a summer apart will do for us what over 8 years of counseling has not been able to do because he doesn't want to deal with what is making him so angry. We will see.

We had our first measurable snow last night. Jeff gets to try out his new snow blower!

Moonlady, I hope the time away from you will help with your son!

Actually, it turned out to only be a couple inches so we shovelled. I made a snowman. For as long as I am able and the snow is the right sort there WILL be snowmen! We have three other neighbors in our little cul de sac. All of them have young children. None ever make snowmen. I call that kind of sad.

Thank you, Priscilla. Micah (my youngest) would love to have joined you in your snowman making. He tried to when it snowed in Kansas but there wasn't enough.

Spring semester began this weekend and the classes look to be very intense and intriguing. So far grad school experience at CGU has been a new and wonderful experience.

We went gaming last night, which meant we had to cross a mountain. It was beautiful, the trees still had ice on them. From a distance it liked like someone had sprinkled powder sugar across the top of them. I'll post pic later.

Lots of snow on the way to us. We filled up the gas tanks in the cars, got a can of gas for the snow blower, went to the store. We're ready. I told our kids and their SO's to drive careful and watch out for THE STUPIDS! Jeff will stay home if it's bad.

I am so sorry Moonlady. We always miss them, no matter how many years it is.

Jeff and I and the kids will be ok with the snow, we are used to it. I feel sorry for people who may have just moved here and have no experience with it. Spring will come and all this will just be memories captured in pictures.
