The 4-H group tries to do a large trip to finish up what they have been studing and since this term they werer studing Geology we thought it would make a good wrap up trip. http://www.naturalbridgeva.com/ |

I was very surprised when I found an article that cites at least one of the places where the new *End Of the World* predications have been coming from… *this is strictly for information purposes only…and is not meant as any personal criticism of this persons beliefs…* Coming soon to a planet near you: Apocalypse now. Harold Egbert Camping, co-founder and president of an Oakland-based Christian radio network, says the world as we know it will end Saturday. He says he has done the Biblical math and calculates that Judgment Day is almost here. He says it will kick off with a giant earthquake in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, maybe around 6 p.m. PST. “The Bible Guarantees It,” reads the billboard advertisement that his company, Family Radio, has erected nationwide in recent months. “Mr. Camping is going to be just fine on May 21,” Allen said. “But other people have given everything. Those are the real victims.” A recent flurry of media reports out of New York City about a retired transit worker who spent his life savings, some $140,000, to place ads that echo Camping’s prediction. Read the full article here…http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2...s-broadcaster/ If you don't hear from me after Saturday...well:eek:...it's been a wonderful life and at least I won't have to worry about my jaw being out of place anymore:ugg:. |
Re: What is happening
Maelin,
LOL Ask your neighbours to put all their life savings into your account so you can send it to Holland, a godfearing country that will be spared, I'm sure. And might it happen that you, and the rest of California, are given a little longer I promise I will use that money to a very good end. One of them being the temporary evacucation of two dear Californian inhabitants to Europe. For safety and religious resaons of course (a visit to the Louvre is a relgious experience, I'll vouch for that!) |
Re: What is happening
O my! There are people that will never learn. They will jump blindly in de ocean if some clever charlatan says so.

Re: What is happening
People have been making proclamations like that for centuries, if not millenniia. I kind of feel sorry for the old goat, he's obviously mental. What I don't understand is why anybody ever takes any of them seriously.

Re: What is happening
Hans.... guess where I was today? :)
. .. ... .... ..... Just back from a meeting in Paris but I had the afternoon off so I got to go to a certain museum |
Re: What is happening
Natural Bridge was nice. I made it as far as the indian village. The walk to the water fall was too far for me. My back started hurting so I let Kibbie do the rest without me. She had a great time. She love the caverans. Kibbie also said there were dragons in the wax museum. We could not find our camera so we did not get any pics. Several people in our group said they would email us some pics.

Re: What is happening
Well Hans...it seems that those people who are deeply involved
have already spent all their money...ala all the warning billboards from coast to coast. Now of course Hans, just to be on the safe side, you could go ahead and send us two tickets...we'd fly right over...then all four of us could go on another grand adventure together and visit the Louvre and that special *Old Painter's House*...this world can't call it *Quits* go before I've visited his studio you know!! Of course... if all of you MoMers hear an extremely loud scream around 6pm PST on Saturday...its because we've had a small tremmor or two, and you should all be considering heading for the hills (knock on wood... being the overly superstitious type...:lol::lol:)...just for saftey sake:eek::faint2::faint: |

I'm feeling ill today-Paris was not good for my health... so photos will have to wait. I decided that, as I did not have time to see everything, I'd stick to one area so I saw the Mesopotamian archaeology, Napoleon III's suite and the Northern European artists (Dutch, Flemish, German)- there was a Vermeer, a lot of Rubens and van Dyk's and a room of Rembrandts (whose work I love- particularly the self portraits). The rest will wait until next time :) |
Re: What is happening
Kibby and I went shoping in Lynchburg today while the Blue Angels were practing. They were so low we could see the tail numbers. We watchen them do some rolls, formation flying and other WAY COOL stuff. We saw them before we heard them. They were so fast the sound of the planes could not keep up with the planes. We can not wait for the actual show tomorrow.

Lord my hands are shaking just thinking about it...AAAaaaaAAA, heaven is an art studio... Arrrgggh... |

Re: What is happening
The Blue Angels are AWSOME!! I now have a sunburn and got way overly hot buttt
THE BLUE ANGELS ARE AWSOME!!! We watched the air show from a friend's house. The Blue Angels circled around and flew over the house on there side so low we could see the cockpit for a second. Kibby kept yelling it is soooo cooollll. We also got to see a wing walker, older biplanes, parachuters and a bunch of other stuff. We are planning on goiing back tomorrow. |
Re: What is happening
I do not know who was in charge at the airport, but, I think they are lacking intelgence.
There was no parking at the airport, you HAD to take shuttle. There was close to 100 thousand people. You were only allowed to take a quart of water in to the airshow. Bottle water was 3 dollars a bottle. There were very few drink stands and no shade any where. Once the show was over everyone ran to the 2 spots to catch a shuttle. Everyone was crowed VERY close together. People started dropping from the heat. 200 people were treated at the airport. 50 people were take by ambulance to THE hospital and 50 more took them selves to the hospital. (Lynchburg only has 1 hospital with an E.R.) It took 2 hours and 45 min. to get everyong to their cars. Mom said it was the first time she has been glad not to be able to afford to go some place. |

Re: What is happening
Air shows can be tricky things to attend. Before 9/11 it was at least a little bit easier but these days, with all the security requirements, I'm amazed that they even have them at all. One of the best I ever attended was in Columbus, MS. It seemed like everybody that could fly was there. Thunderbirds, Blue Angles, the group from Canada and a whole list of other specialty fliers ranging from a Blackbird and a Warthog to a jet propelled fire truck. For an old fan of flying things, the static displays would have been enough. They even had a C5A and a MIG. It was on a base and there were security procedures but nothing like they have now. We took frozen water bottles and other goodies in a rolling backpack type thing and some lightweight folding chairs, none of which would be allowed any more. It's a shame the Lynchburg show had so many difficulties but, all things considered, it's not surprising.

Re: What is happening
On Sunday people could take as much water as they wanted in with them. There were more shuttle loading places and misting tents. There were only 25 people treated for heat problems.
I think more than security reason it was greed. |

The Rembrandt house is one of my favourite places in Amsterdam. Even if I only went there for a few hours it was a definite place to visit. Now you've got me thinking it's been too long since I went on a trip to the Netherlands. Mmmm - a friend of mine wants to visit a Christmas Market this year - must get my thinking cap on  Kath |
Re: What is happening
how did the rapture go? I was camping. are the rumors I heard that said there where riots when nothing happened true? Also, if anyone cared, there actually was an earthquake in the gulf of california on saturday.
the only problem is, there is almost always an earthquake happening in california. |
Re: What is happening
How WONDERFUL kc...I've seen photos of it on the computer...taken a virtual tour so to speak...but nothing
would be as fantastic as actually passing through the doorway...touching the door frame, where he might have placed a hand, and to walk into his studio...LORD Martin and Hans would have to take hold of me again and stop me from touching EVERYTHING IN SIGHT...:faint2::faint:.....:lol::lol: Some day maybe...perhaps. We all have to have a dream...and thats mine:dance: Good thing I hugged you went we met...at least I've touched someone whose been there...:ugg::grin:.......;) |
Re: What is happening
I heard about the earthquake but I understood it didn't damage anything.
My granddaughter had he "Awards Day" ceremony at school today. Last year she graduated kindergarten and this year she's receiving academic awards. She was given one for perfect "Straight As" for the entire year, one called "Math Whiz" and two different ones to do with reading. She was happy. I was PROUD! |

Sounds like Quite the good student there. Congrat to her. |
Re: What is happening
Sandy, tell your granddaughter CONGRATS for me. She sounds like a very smart young lady.
|
Re: What is happening
Thanks Maw and Dragon Fan. She is very smart. She's a little taller than most of the other girls her age (7) and I think some people think she's actually a lot older than she is. It's funny since her mother (my daughter) was always the tiniest kid in her class. It doesn't feel that long ago when she had that surgery on her head and we were all so worried. I think it's safe to say it didn't affect her development and all she has to show for it is a strange hair part on the top of her head. Considering how thick and luxurious her hair is that is fairly easy to conceal.

Tell her she's famous 'cause she's in a book that is internationally sold :) |
