There is a Star Trek cruise

Cruising Perncon would be great. Who wants to set it up?

Yes, that would be fun, I could come on my own, it would be hard but I could make it work.

Just how in the world get my other half on a boat, he afraid of water, :blushing: I'm going to a class get together and we are planning on going on the lakes, before dinner, and bonfire at a friends' place, hard when I don't drive, :blushing: not till this summer, just one those things that on my mind at the moment.

I have never really wanted to go on a cruise, I get motion sickness easily. For a Pern cruise I would be willing to chance it.

I am listening to Kibby practising her presentation for 4H competition tomorrow. She needs more practise.

Kibby is VERY happy and proud of herself. She won district competition. She will be able to move on to state.

Congrats to Kibbie! Making State is AWESOME.

Kidling and I are adjusting to being just two.... Nick had to go to the UK for an extended period of time to care for his parents. Not really thrilled, but... it gives him a chance to find a better job than was on offer here, and get HIS health concerns taken care of by a doctor who knows him well. Thank the Powers That Be for the internet and Skype.

Back to the Surgeon for a little problem with a stitch in my brothers Eye, It seems one of the stitches is putting tension on the cornea and pulling it out of shape, causing his vision to constantly change. making it very difficult to get a true reading for a contact prescription.

Ouch, I hope that it can be solved soon

Funniest thing ever, Nibbles, our smallest cat, was TRYING to play with lazer light dot. Jazzy, smallest dog, was chewing on Nibbles's head. It is hard to play with little red dot when the dog is trying to decapatate you.

Dog and cat do that all the time. Usually Nibbles starts it by wrapping herself around Jazzy's legs. Jazzy chews on his head.

The Doctor took out the problem stitch in the Brothers eye, the cornea, relaxed into a new position and he came away with a reading of 20/30 without a contact, he will be corrected to 20/20 with a new contact.

Re: What is happening

Hi everyone,

Long time no see!

Well, what have I been up to?

My mother-in-law got hospitalized with a blood clot, and transferred from hospital to a retirement home which provides the care which she now needs. This happened at the beginning of January and she moved into her retirement appartment on March 1st. We only got the key one week before and rushed to move her things, so she could feel at home right away. We made it by March 1st, however this left us the entire month of March to sort her old house, her superfluous furniture, her entire collection of magazines and old VCR tapes, textile scraps and other stuff. Some of her now unnecessary things went to the grandchildren, but most went to second hand shops. A word of advice to all of us - please sort through your/my belongings before you/I get too old or disabled to do it yourself/myself.

Now in her new home my mother-in-law is genuinely happy to see us. She has been steadily becoming demented and not knowing me thus been looking at me with suspicious eyes before all this happened. Now she knows who I am (though I answer many names and titles ) unless she gets tired, then every recognition and power of speech goes away. I am only very happy to be in favour again and thus able to help, visit and talk to her all alone.

Today we celebrated my son's 21st birthday at her appartment at the retirement home - I had baked a cake and the entire family was there. She was so happy, even if she sometimes thought that it was her own birthday.

Happy Easter to all of you! :)

Re: What is happening

It sounds like she is getting better. As far as answering to many titles, I spent the weekend calling my niece & nephew each other's names, cat names and even the dog's name. I have decided to do what my Grandma Wilson use to do & call every one fart blossom.

Kibby's prom is tomorrow. I will be glad when it is over. She lost a rhinestone in one of her shoes. She only wore then once. I tried to take them back to the store, all they said was to bad. Luckily unless you know it is missing you don't know it is gone.

Her date will be wearing a white tux with a blue vest. I plan on taking lots of pics.

Spent several hours TRYING to get donation for a charity auction the Mom & Kibby's Star Trek group does every year. The money goes to several different charities. If they make enough money the send a kit to space camp.

We left a LOT of request letter, but, did not get a single donation. UGGG.

I have been babysitting the 2 year old all week. I now also have the 3 year old. My niece has been having some health problems and has not been able to look after them. The fathers are not being helpful. They are too busy to watch their kids.

Melissa had exploratory surgery today. The Dr. remove a little bit of scar tissue left from having 3 c- sections and her tubes tied. Hopefully it will stop the pain and bleeding problems she has had.

Gearing up for what we hope becomes an annual thing: A flea market to benefit the Middle School. Especially with all the budget cuts, our students are losing so much by way of extras AND standard options!

Queen's Day (national holiday, not a gay feast) today here in The Netherlands. Didn't partake in the festivities and general fun but worked and photographed in the garden! :)

My niece finally picked up her kids. She is still not suppose to pick up anything. I am glad the kids are gone. It is nice and quite here. I do not know why anyone would choose to have kids when they are in thier 40s or older.

I couldn't escape it this year. Delft is usually relatively quiet, but this year the music stopped last night around 1am and started up again before 9am. It finished around 7pm tonight I think.

Edith, in university cities the night before seems to be just as important as the day itself. But the evening of the day itself, April 30, is usually relatively quiet.

Normally people in Delft go out in Den Haag for the parties on Queen's Night (tried it once- I don't get on well with crowds). It's not a big party city. Delft on Queens Day is usually lovely, I was just too tired to enjoy it this year. They often put on events on the street out the back of my current place (not the one you've been to, I now live right in the centre), but normally the noise is not too bad, I don't know what they did differently this year (I was possibly soberer than last year).

Re: What is happening

This years Star Trek charity auction is not going to have many items. Kibyy and I were out all day Friday, left a TON of request letters and ended up with no donations.

Went to local fire dept. auction and got a second camper shell to use as a goat house. I can have a house for the goat in the back and front of the house. I am VERY happy. Last year I was stuck moving his house from front to back when ever he ran out of grass where he was. Now I can just move him. It will be much easier on me. Mom got it real cheap. No one else wanted it. She got it for 20 dollars delivered. Could have gotten it cheaper, but it was a good cause.

Re: What is happening

Where is everyone?

We are putting together a family tree. The problem we are having is how/ where to put the step-fathers and bio fathers. Don is my bio father, I did not know him until I was 12, so I don't want to leave him off. Joe was DADDY I don't want to leave him off either. We finially decided to put Mom's name in the middle & put Don and Joe's name on either side. Same fo my sister and her 2 Hubbies.
Now how to put Melissa's 3 kids each with a different father. It gets complacted.

Mawra, I am also involved with genealogy. It can be very interesting. (Not always pretty, but interesting!) That's where I've been lately: digging with my dad's cousin to see how far we can go back.

Re: What is happening

For Christmas I got Mom a family tree wall decal. We are starting with her parents and working down. Mom has gone back several generations on her mother's side. Some of what she found out was intresting. Unfortunately the wall is not big enough to go back that far.

We are planning to put pictures above the names. We are spending a lot of time looking through old pictures trying to find the pictures we need. It has been fun looking at them all.

Finally got around to reading the Dragonchoice series - and really enjoyed them! - after seeing the post about the upcoming third installment.

With my interest briefly stoked, I decided to briefly pick up where I left off on the Pern Wiki - making synopses - and just managed to complete a synopsis for Dragon's Fire: http://pern.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon%27s_Fire

I have to say; I do like Todd's work at times, but damn, sometimes it takes so long for a scene to move on, or for the story to get going - at one point, it seemed like one scene happened twice! I also hate it when there's so many minor plot points; keeping track of them all and whether or not they were resolved really takes it out of me - for one, it's never explained how Moran got to Aleesa's Camp after setting out after Tenim.
