Grangerizing Anne's Pern Series Paperbacks - A Meeting of Minds

I love her books so much I have basically worn them into pieces. So I have been considering collecting associated memorabilia and grangerizing my Pern series. Has anyone ever done that to her books or any other books they own?

To illustrate a book with pictures taken from published sources, such as by clipping them out for one's own use.

It's a new term to me also. And, no, I've never even considered it.

Interesting, but I don't think I could ever bring myself to do that. No, I would get a new copy of whatever it was that got wrecked, but I would probably still keep the old one. Besides, I have a reading set, and my collection is seperate. My collectable books sit on my bookshelf ad I look at them, occassionally drool on them, fawn over them and touch them, but I don't read them.

Samsara...what you said...to a tee, thats how I treat my books too. I still have my first paper back of The Ship Who Sang...even with the chew spot on the cover where my cat took a small taste...I can't bear to trash them, I have on occasion given them to friends to start their own collections with.

Sounds like my original pb copy of Dragonquest. It belonged to my mum once upon a time, but she gave me all her Pern books when I started collecting seriously. It got a lot of use from both my mum and I, and is in pretty tatty condition with insect nibbles on the corner of the cover, which is so faded it doesn't even look red anymore. I have since got a decent copy for my collection, plus another one for reading. But I still have that completely wrecked copy that my mum gave me. It has to much history behind it to get rid of it, let alone cut it up for the picture.

I've save the Paperback of Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern its cover, my copy, had fallen apart I don't have two sets yet.

I don't think I could do something like that to a book either, no matter how worn - out it is. I'm not a collector, and I have some books that are REALLY old, but I still keep them.
