Hoping to buy the book next week when I go in to do the "blood donor" bit so I've got something to read whilst there. School holidays means going to see a movie too, junior wants to see the new Shrek movie in 3D - must remember to take 3D glasses.

I've been having an interesting correspondence with a woman in Memphis who is blind, teaches other blind people and also does social work type stuff. One of the things she does for her own pleasure is scanning regular books into a reading program--she has two. One is JAWS and another one starts with a K. I've been sending her whatever books she wants to convert and I don't care at all if she shares them with other blind people. I am absolutely certain Annie would be glad of it too. She goes to a lot of work to try to make the books listenable--the ones that haven't been made into audio books. I sent her the audio book of Catalyst too. Very interesting lady.

Here's another e-book caveat--the e-books are shielded not to work on those scanning programs like JAWs so blind people can't use them. That sucks.

American Book Center say they have it at last (they also say that you can preorder the paperback and Catacombs) so I'm going into The Hague tomorrow to see if they have a copy in stock.

You need to get your publisher to kick your Dutch distributor because Selexyz (the big chain) hasn't even got it online. (The ABC is an independent company)
I couldn't find it in the UK in April, but then I may have got the timing wrong. I might ask my Mum if she can find it next time she's in Aber. Otherwise I will have to get my cards out and order it online. The main problem with that is that post to my flat isn't that reliable, so it will have to be sent to work.

A letter from you to the publisher would be far more influential than a complaint from me. All that happens if I complain about something like that is they get pissed off at me. Complaints from fans and readers who can't find what they're looking for carry a lot more weight.

Edith, I found myself in the same situation. 6 months of waiting for Barque Cats and now I finally have it but only because I complained to the book shop who then complained to the publisher on my behalf and viola, a happy customer who is now back to being happy with her book shop. As Eann said, it's not the author's fault, it's more to do with the publisher.
Happy that the next book is in the pipeworks, you must be bouncing for joy, Eann ![]() I just found out last week that my mum is thinking of publishing her 3rd book, although I forgot to ask whether it was to do with history as her first 2 books dealt with the history of south-west Victoria or a romance novel that she wanted to get out of her head

Edith, are you still having problems getting hold of Catalyst? I just checked on amazon in the UK: they have hardback in stock and you can pre-order the paperback and pre-order Catacombs. If the worst comes to the worst I could order it for you and forward it to the Netherlands. Or perhaps Hans knows a good supplier there? Best of luck.
By the way, I noticed they have changed the cover art for the forthcoming books. I wonder why. Catalyst hardback Catalyst paperback - pre-order Catacombs - pre-order

I enjoyed it immensely. One question, was the intention to name some of the characters after Mom'ers? Kibble = Kibbie, Jubal (d'oh, me), Captain Vessey = P'ter are ones that spring to mind. Was wondering....
