Since tents IS a plural...

I've seen a version of this were rearranging the letters was allowed if necessary. Are we doing that here? I did this once below, as I couldn't come up with a word otherwise without changing two letters at once. They're all real words, btw.

Tresa, you gonna suggest the next one. Go from tents to something else or give a totally new one, either would be good.

sorry Kibbie, it is readS to bookS and while you could make plurals from what you used I don't think that boak is an existing word, but you could prove me wring with a dictionary entry

As for your suggestion of "book to mccaffrey"; the words need to have the same length because if they are not you'll never be able to complete the change by just changing one letter...
