Default Gather at Ruatha

I did this Pen and Ink drawing * Gather at Ruatha* as a special gift, for the MoMers that went to Eurocon. I thought that I would share this with you all now, as so many of you were unable to go and join in the fun. The pen and ink drawings that I do are among my more favorite pieces as I do have a lot of fun doing them and putting in all the tiny details. I hope that you enjoy it too...

Cheers, Master Maelin

P.S. WHOOOOOOOPEEEEEEEEE I love being able to say that Thank you again....Cheryl.. Anneli.. Hans

Thank you so much, Master Maelin! This is wonderful. I keep waiting for the race to start! And the from the stage is so enchanting, no wonder some people decided to skip the racing and dance! Lessa looks great with her braid flying and Ramoth is gorgeous! I could stare at this for hours. And I love the way you put the names into the frame. In fact, I love everything about this picture!

I know, I'm gushing. But this is a great work of art.

What can one say that hasn't been said... This picture is special in varous ways though because of where and to whom it was presented by whom and because it is no portrait but such a very detailed scene.

It is absolutely stunning and both the Hold as well as the dragon are gorgeous.

Thank you Master Maelin

I am so happy that you are all enjoying it...

@Lady Tresa, all you need now is to make your way to the *Bubbly Pies* stand...and enjoy the races and the dancing later...

@ Lady Sandi, enjoy yourself at the Gather dear lady...and please don't bet to many of your marks on the races..!!!

@ Lady Lily, glad to see you enjoying the fun...find yourself a comfy seat, I know you will enjoy the music and perhaps find yourself a handsome partner for a dance...

@Sarea, go get your fancy dress on...and find yourself a partner for one of the swing dances. Do remember to jot down those notes, as you see interesting things that stir that creative woodcrafters mind of yours...

@ Harper R, remember not to eat to many *Bubbly Pies* as you might need to take your turn on the stage...playing music for the dancers...

@Master Elrhan, enjoy the food, the music...and the fine Benden wine that will be served ...and please save me a dance...

@Journeywoman Smith Edy, enjoy the gather stall, the fine food...and the lively dancing...

Oh, My!!!! Master is such a well deserved title for you Maelin! This is another stunning example of why you were chosen to have that title! I love it!
So I went back and looked at the picture more......your detail is so, well, detailed! I love the dragons on the heights and it looks like another one a bit lower on the mountainside. The dragons' feet and claws are so well done! The banners flying from the hold windows are great too!

@Becky...This drawing of Ramoth, is my most favorite dragon drawing(Feet and Claws included) that I have so far done. I know I took a few liberties with Ramoth's size...but that was because I wanted to show Lessa in a size that still had her recognizable to those enjoying the drawing. Yes there is another dragon on the heights...all together there are eight dragons in this drawing. Now go and get yourself to the gather...there is dancing and music for everyone to ejnoy...

@Jube, Thank you for the compliments...but I don't think that Robin Wood, or any other artist has anything to fear from me. I am just glad that so many of the fans of Anne's stories have found enjoyment in some or all of my work.
Now how about a walk through the gather stalls, you might just find something there that you need...

@Sarea, I thought that was you that I saw lingering around the pick lines...looking fondly over at a few of the nicer wagons...

@Maw, follow the smells to the roasting meats...and your ears to the wonderful Harper music...and enjoy the gather...

@Granath, thank you Headwoman...now is the time to forget your duties, and go and enjoy the gather...

@ Thank you Lady Deb, now off with you to the gather...remember the races are ready to start again...

Yes, I believe it is coming the time of year when the gather stalls will begin to fill quickly with buyers. We should try to get our shopping done before the real crowds arrive.

Master Maelin, I just have to tell you - Steven has been going over the painting with a magnifying glass, trying to see if one of the dancing couples is recognisable!! And bemoaning the fact that they're just tiny little figures...

I have gently taken him aside and let him know that you were referring to the virtual Ruatha gather! He's happier now. Embarrassed, but at least not worried about eyestrain.

OH NO Steven, I am so sorry for your eye strain

B u t...if you look at the drawing with a lovely Ruatha Gather in mind..you will see that we are enjoying a lovely waltz...as is Lady Lanen, who is dancing with another Master of our aquaintance.
Can you hear the music now...I wish I was as wonderful a writer as Lady Lanen is, then you could smell the spices of the *roasting meats*with hot baked tubers. The warm fresh just out of the oven baked bread. Not to mention the hot sweet *bubbly pies*boiling over with juice, for desert. Add to that the soft sweet smell of a summer breeze...and you will surely be transported there to enjoy the gather as I ment it to be.

OK, it's a little corny I admit...but it's still such a very nice dream...

How nice to find somebody else who can dream in smell! No one else in my family can!
