I'm not even sure if they have such a program operating in my country for Kibbie's age group.

But I do know what you mean with agrueing everything. My son has turned 20 two weeks ago and although it is better than it used to be we still argue a lot Uhm... that maybe was not the right thing to say at this moment...

Before I left I had countless rows with Dad (mostly because he kept distracting me by asking questions about stuff I'd already done) and one with Al, mostly because he was in a bad mood because he wasn't going to be at home when I left.

I don't want to swap. I really do not want to get rid of her anyway. Welllll not for long anyway. Most of the time she is a good kid. She just wants to do what she wants to NOW!

She has alway been like that when she was 4 or 5 I would tell if she did something she would go in time out. I could see her thinking about it for several minutes. Then she would go do what I had told her not to and head to the hall for time out.

While in tech school we had a few exchange students, stop by via friends of people my landlady know staying with them.

I recall one, time I met someone from of the Spanish speaking countries in the Americas, she spoke English but, was still trying to get the hang of it, I had on a tape I had made off the radio of diffent types of music, one of my homemake mixes, she enjoyed, so much I made her a copy of some other in my collection of tapes, my Spanish is bad, so I asked a friend who spoke better than I did,tell her is a gift from me for her to take with her home from the USA, she was suprised, she thank me and my friend for the gift.

I had given my firend a copy of something out of the homemade mix as a thank you, one song I had found was one she been looking for.

Right now she call me, and she and I are not quite as friendly for something she did to me after I left school. Its a story not for this thread I think.

Actually Maw, a pen-pal MIGHT help. There are varioius organisations that run a service. It might be an idea to pick one that works by snail-mail. They usually organise exchange visits (about a week each way) say one about Easter and the other in the summer.

With my houseing right now I can not do an exchange. Part of the problem is that Kibbie has no space of her won really. Her and Mom both sleep in the livingroom. There is no way I can have anyone else here unless we get something bigger. Maybe if we when the lottery.

I still think the pen-pal idea might be good for Kibbie on a lot of levels. It would be good for her to have contacts in "the wide world" for one thing. It could also give her more impetus to work on writing.

On another topic, I still haven't seen Cilla step in here. We need to work on a plan to get her to join us.

If there are no fairies or cat warriors in it she does not want to read it. She has not gotten in to the "bad" books yet. I have been trying to get her to read something different, maybe I am better off with her reading the same books. LOL.

Just for fun I looked to see how much the offical foreign exchange student programs were. For a summer in the Netherlands is was around 9000 dollars and you have to be 16 yeas old. Ireland was 12000 dollars for a summer. I think she will not be doing an exchange any time soon. That is way past my budget.

I am VERY upset with my computer at the moment. I have been working on a story with Kevia's help. Well last night when I got on the computer I discovered that most of the story is not there all that is there are a bunch of lines like this //////////////. At least a weeks worth of work.

I'm between Chapel Hill and Burlington. We came through VA yesterday on our way home from my sister's wedding in PA, but would have been unlikely to stop. But anyway, I think Concord is on the other side of the state from where we were. Isn't it somewhere near Roanoke?

It is centeral Va. about an hour and a half from Roanoke. Half way between Lynchburg and Appomattox.

I do not rember where Chapel Hill is. I think we went threw it when we went to Dragoncon.

It's about middle of the state. We are west of it. I don't have my atlas handy so I can't be sure, but it doesn't seem like you would have gone through it on the way south. We either have to go way east or way west to go south. What highway did you take south?

Maw at least she's reading!!! Some kids at her age would rather be playing video games!!

I lost my little orange cat, Dusty< last night. He had been sick for awhile now. We tried 4 differnt antibotic but nothing worked. he kept loosing weight. Last night he was nothing but skin and bones and would not eat. I figured we would lose him. He was only a couple of years old and a real sweetie. He would get into any car door that was open, before you could go anywhere you had to check and make sure he had not snuck in.





I never worry about the fact whether or not she reads enough. It is more of a matter is she reading when she is suppoe to be doing othe things. Like school work.
