Wow! 50 Highlights! So I figure I'd better make it something special.
![]() How about two special copies of Anne's first Pern novel, DRAGONFLIGHT? And this being the 40th Anniversary of Pern, it seems fitting. ![]() The two special editions are: The Easton Press (the red leather bound copy) and The 30th Anniversary Edition (the purple cased copy) ![]() ![]() The Easton Press copy was actually put out in two different covers. The one I have is just plain with the 'spider web' as I call it. The other cover has a gilt rendering of Whelan's Dragonflight cover. Whelan's cover art is also printed inside each copy. I think they were $50 new, tho not positive. ![]() ![]() ![]() Bantam's 30th Anniversary of Pern edition was issued in a slipcase with no dust jacket in 1997. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I like the fact that a US artist was on one copy and the UK artist on the other. Cheryl did Highlight 26 on the 30th Anniversary watch. It also has the Weston dragon on it to go with the slip cased edition. ![]() I tried to find some pricing for the 30th Anniversary edition and couldn't find any, sorry. And eBay actually has the Whelan cover Easton Press up for sale at the moment. (edit by Hans to add pics of first Easton Dragonflight)

I rarely drool over other-than-poetry-books, but I drooled over these.
Congratulations on a fine purchase. |

Hmmm, guess I could be wrong about the price of the 30th Anniv copy, but swear it was $30. I've always thought it great that the price and it being the 30th Anniv were pretty neat. Oh, well, they're pretty close.

Oh, I do need to thank Hans for adding the photos of the Whelan gilt cover on the Easton Press. The one I had was little and just not clear and he added the better ones after I'd posted this. So..... Thanks Hans!

Maelin, remember you pointed out the purple one for me once (on UK eBay) not long after you bought yout DelRey Draginflight hardcover? I lost the bid then which, I think, went over a 100 pounds but certainly over a 100 dollars.
