This is a one of a kind collectible and some may not even consider it a collectible. This is ephemra (paper) from the publishers Underwood-Miller regarding the publication of Three Gothic Novels. Which contain the three books The Ring of Fear, The Mark of Merlin and The Kilternan Legacy.
![]() ![]() The paperwork contains a letter of provenance stating that all items are genuine and authentic and is signed by Chuck F. Miller. The packet contains a proof dustjacket, 8 1/2 X 11 photo copies of the artwork used in the book, 2 pages listing corrections to be done with hand written notes stating they were corrected. There are several letters from the people involved in getting the book out to the stores. ![]() The damage to the proof dustjacket was done while in my posession, sadly. I had a frame of the photocopied pictures with just the title showing and the purple around the title faded to pink. ![]() ![]() There is also a letter from Chuck to Anne stating that Three Gothics is at the printers and he expects them in Nov. He says he'll be sending fans flyers about the Three Gothics and that he's sending her some also. He expresses concern that her new books coming out might hurt the sales of the Three Gothics. Anne's reply is also included, it is typed and signed Annie with a couple of handwritten corrections. ![]() The letter from Anne referrences the flyers, saying the pictures are out of order tho. ![]() ![]() ![]() A copy of the flyer, mentioned by both Chuck and Anne, is included and also a copy of the front of the Advance Review copy of Three Gothics. The paperwork is very interesting to read thru as it contains so much information about publishing a book. And since I don't know the first thing about it I found it quite interesting reading. ![]() These sorts of things have to be out there for other books, but I've not seen anything else like it since finding this one. Does anyone else have anything like this for other books?

This is just as exciting to read through as I knew it would be. I am so surprised at reading the letter from Anne, where she states that the stories are Mysteries and Murders at that. I haven't read any of these yet, but I know now I most assuradly will as soon as I possibly can.
Becky...Thanks for sharing another part of you unbelievalbe collection again with all of us...my Highlights notebook is growing nicely...wink and a smile!!!

Jax, those ex-library copies could almost be collectible in themselves. So having this one could be the start of something for you. I've not seen this one as an ex-library before.
Hmm, ex-library collection of Anne's books. I'll have to check into that myself! ![]()

Edi, you're ahead of me there! I've been looking for something to add to my collection that could be affordable and ex-library copies could fit the bill.

I got mine from that lot on Ebay! I have got a spare copy of twd- there were 2 in the lot! haven't seen many more!
only problem with ex-library books is that libraries tend to rip off the flyleaf with the date sheet on... I might have a picture of that somewhere... |

I haven't a single signed edition- all the hardbacks are a bit out of my league- ok, I could probably afford onne of the cheaper ones but not really, or are modern paperbacks which I don't buy on principle- I mean if you've had a signed book you don't want to get rid of it surely?
that lot was a one off, I have very little opportunity of finding interesting books round here! |
