Hiya... I'm new, if you haven't noticed. How y'all doing?

Mmay, I want to upload my own avatar. I keep entering it on the bottom...and hitting the little check box above it. Every single time I hit 'Save Changes', the avatar doesn't come up...

And always, the check box at the top of the screen that says to not use an avatar is checked off.

So...what should I do?

Send the avatar to me via email, and I'll upload it for you. We have firewall issues preventing people from uploading their own avatars, which I've never bothered to diagnose and fix...

Cheryl, I just want to know what an avatar is, I mean I know that is what you call the little picture on the side of our posts. The ones that you provide are very nice. But I would like to put a picture that I have drawn in that spot. Can you tell me how to do that? I have been looking everywhere, and no one seems to talk about what an avatar is, or how to do it. My picture is 12x16, it's a pen and ink drawing, I think that it would make a very nice and different avatar. It is a drawing of Menoly in the harper hall with Master Shonagar. I also have another one with Menolly, Sebell, Talmor, and Master Domick. Do I have to get it brought down to a certain size? Like to fit on the scanner? That seems likely, but how and where? We are not sure how this is done? I would be very thankful for any and all helpful ideas that you could offer.
I think that you and Hans would enjoy them after being to both of you other sites. By the way they are marvelous true wonders for any one who loves Anne, and her work.

Lady Maelin, you will need to scan the picture and save it as either a gif or jpg type file. You can them email it to me (cheryl@srellim.org) - no matter how large it is - and I will shrink it down to the necessary size for you and get it uploaded on the MoM server. Alternatively you can shrink it down to 80x80 pixels and upload it yourself through the User CP (look for the link in the top bar on each page).

I have just tried to upload an avatar, but eventhough I made it smaller than 80x80 pixel it still asks that it be under 24 something kb.

My picture is about 54 kb. Am I doing something wrong?

I checked and the file size limit was set pretty low Nefermiw. I've bumped it up to 100 kb now, so give it another try.

Cheryl, thank you for your help. We are going to go to a photo copy store that has a big enough screen, that can reduse my picture. We will have to wait until after the holidays, but then I will get it to you as soon as I can. Again thank you for you information.

I think I might change between different pics of my parrot for the avatar, once in a while.
