Today is my best friends' 60th birthday. She is dreading it. I told her every day we wake up is a good one.

I am Kibby free for the weekend. She went to my niece's Wed. I think she is coming home Mon. or Tue.

I save a little biry yesterday. Oden, cat, brought in a live one. I took it way from her. It had a small punture, not deep, it could fly. I called an animal rehab place. They had me take to a vet where they would pick it up.

I just finished calling names for our Veterans Day ceremony. It was very hard. You read those names and it really hits home how many of them there are. These are all from the Iraq/Afghanistan War. They started at 8am this morning and will finish around 5pm tonight. I started to cry part way through and got myself back together. I had a grandfather in WW1, my dad was in WW2 and Korea and my brother was in Vietnam. All came home safely, but for the others that did not, we thank you for your sacrifice.

I served from 1967 to 1978. I could tell you tales that would make you laugh till you cry and that would curl your hair. All true, and totally unbelievable as well as unprovable. Maybe some day I'll write it all down and pass it off as fiction.

Bedford Va lost more men per capata than any other place. The boys that died were refured to as the Bedford Boys. Yesterday the woman who was on duty at the telegraph office that day died. She was the last connection to the Bedford Boys. It brings home how many people here who are not in the military are needed.

She probalbly would. Right now I am trying to get her to write a short story. She want to be a writer, I think she should know how to write a short story as well as long. She is good at writing long stories. Not so good at short.

She also does not like to write non fiction. I told her she could write her short story as long as she wished. Her non fiction story had to be the same langth.

Kibby and I went out only so we could get snow globes from JC Pennys. We managed to get 6.
We have snow globes from every year since 2005, except for 2008. The 2008 one broke. We still have it minus the globe part. We had no money for any shopping, but, we did get the globes.

We celebrated 2nd Thanksgiving instead. We had a late invite to share Thanksgiving with my husband's business partner and his family, which was wonderful. But then I still had a turkey to cook. It was a nice no-pressure meal.

Last night I left Jeff a note by the computer asking him to please order me some of the shower gel I love (Bath & Body Works). He went to the site and discovered if he bought 3 he'd get 3 free. So, since I'd asked for two different scents, he ordered me 3 of both, which means I am now going to get 12 bottles! I told him I'll be able to wallow in it! Actually, I may give a couple bottles to co-workers for Christmas. What a crazy man!

Mike and I put up outdoor decorations today. It looks great and there are pictures, but I'm not downloading them until we get the inside done. We're headed out tomorrow to buy a winter battery charger for his motorcycle. Thursday I'm having breakfast with a good friend. I wanted to get that in, because starting next week I'm working every day to Christmas for a girl whose husband is in the Marines in Afghanistan and he's off for December. They're meeting in San Diego for 2 weeks and then coming back here for 2 weeks. I'm really happy I can do it for her. It makes me feel good that I can make things a tiny bit nicer for two people who are sacrificing for our country, no matter what I think of the war he's fighting in.

We went out on Friday to shop. It is a family tradition for all the women to go out and shop or just look (that is what I do). There are normally about 6 or 7 of us that go. It can be hectic but I enjoy going out and getting my spirit boosted!! And it is nice for the girls to go out together. We don't do it often enough.

Wow, I have been living life with work, linedancing and recently someone mentioned Anne McCaffrey's short story on Barevi - and I read that one and the whole Freedom series in a weekend (19-20th november). Today I was thinking of giving my dragon jewelery a real dragon name and came here to find the thread of dragon names. I cannot find it. Can anyone help?

And then I found out that Anne McCaffrey died on 21st november - I am so sad and totally speachless. She has given me so much through her books!

No one spoke English in Maastricht? I've found that Germans tend to speak less English than Dutch people to do.

Bruges is nice, just make sure you call it Brugge- the locals are Flemish and don't like the French name!

That's weird. Most dutch speak at least a little english. Maastricht and Valkenburg are tourist places. They should understand you, and reply.
And yes, belgian people are very proud of there native language. Both in Flanders (Dutch) and Wallonia (French)

Where to start!

I got my Master Degree grade in the post today. Turns out I got a Merit, which isn't half bad...looking forward to getting my transcript and Dissertation back though...I want to work on that a bit more, since I have people in the publishing industry wanting to read it.

Talking of publishing...Inspired Quill is doing well. We have two titles published, with another one coming out next week, and one-per-month for the foreseeable future after that. it's a /lot/ of work...especially since me and the two other team members aren't getting paid!

And that's the only downside I have at the moment. I've been job hunting for almost three months now, and I still haven't found anything. I mean, I've been going for some cool 'career' type stuff...but I got rejected from 'Build a Bear' last week, for crying out loud! ...that hurt. >.>

Well..

If anyone was interested in why I left the NKT.. it's hard to explain. I guess I just stopped having fun there and had to move on. So after I left, RL got in the way a bit, but also I took a phlebotomy class in the meantime and passed it (I still need to take a certification test to become "official" and take my clinicals..but there are like, no jobs at ALL around where I live, and moving to a bigger town is just not doable at this time).

So right now I'm kinda just being a stay-at-home..

money is not awfully tight, so we're okay.. but another paycheck would definitely be nice.. *coughs*

Erm.. anyway, moving on.

Had a REAL bird in our Christmas Tree (a little brown wren)! I went out the front door with a bag of trash for the garbage can and startled the bird, which had decided the wreath on our door made a good snoozing spot. Scared it, scared me, and it flew past me into the house and ended up in the tree! Jeff finally coaxed it out the back door by the deck, using a crabbing net on a long pole.

The t.v. in the livingroom stopped working last night. In the middle of a movie it just went blank. It will come on for a second the blank off again.

We had a Christmas party last night. It was fun. Today we are going to a city market.
They have a lot Christmas stuff going on.

Singing my throat out at many carolling 'do's'. We started Dec 4th! and have done 14 so far. Last night was the biggy: 9 lessons and carols which gave us 18 items to sing ranging from 12th to 20th centuries.

just did an egg drop with a friend. We stuck the egg into a hollowed out foam football, covered it in duct tape and bubble wrap, then started playing baseball with it, after dropping it of the second story balcony and it STILL didn't break. success!

Awesome, Rianne. Our kids did that sort of thing I believe in Physics class in High School. Teams had to devise a way to keep the egg safe from a high drop, usually off the roof of the school.

Out the door to work again. I am working this month for a lady whose husband is a Marine in Afghanistan. He was able to get the month of Dec. as leave and they met up in San Diego for two weeks. Now they are back here in town for two weeks and might visit the kids tomorrow. It would be lovely if he came in uniform, I think the kids would be really awed. However. Daycare. Do not get me started on my opinion of full time daycare, especially for infants as young as six weeks!

I babysat over the weekend only the 2 year old & 7 year old. On Thrurs I will get those 2 plus the 3 year old until some time Sat. When ever their mother gets off work. When I have them I have them the entire day and night. It is a 30 min. drive to where they live. Too far to drive everyday.

Melissa is closeing the resturant she works at Sat. the owner wants her to close at 9:00PM. Melissa told him. She was closing at 6:00. If he didn't like it he could find someone else to close. They are not likely to be busy anyway.

Well, I got my hair cut today....and about time, too! It's been two years, since. Everyone says it looks nice, but I don't think it improved my looks any(meaning the hairstyle is nice, but I am still ugly..

)

It was getting too long and causing headaches. I'm just not one for having really long hair I guess... it felt like 10 pounds slid off my head.

Now it'll be easier to take care of and less "oh god the tangles, ow ow ow!"

I prefer shorter hair as well. Hubby prefer it long. I let it grow out until I can't stand it then cut it short.

Kibby might be going to a skateing rink New Years Eve. They have a special skate it starts at 7:30 and goes until 1:00 am. She is hoping her boyfriend will be going. I'm not sure if I am ready for her to have a boyfriend. I guess it does not matter if I am ready or not. He is a boy she has known since they were around 9 years old.

I'm gradually reading through the Pern books and making careful notes so I can write up pages for the Pern wiki. Obviously, it's taking a fair bit longer than I thought it would - still tackling ATWOP at the moment; but I've dealt with the character lists for most books now, so once I have noted each page that a character appears on, I can write their pages with ease.

At the moment, I'm planning to finish the Ninth Pass, then the First Pass (so I can write up some of my old forum posts; like which Stake belonged to who), then the Second (or First Interval, rather) and Sixth Passes so I can finally tackle the Third Pass (and Second Interval) and then add Todd's changes (and possibly list explanations for the mistakes); rather than do them earlier and make things confusing when things from the earlier books don't quite add up!

I'm also planning on tracking down Dragonfire and Dragonharper (the Crossroads gamebooks, not the Todd books), so I can add synopses and character lists from them - they may not be canon, but they arguably deserve a mention on the wiki.

Sometimes I wonder how my best friend and I still manage to be friends, even though we've known each other all our lives. She hates tattoos so much I've never told her I have two. She hates motorcycles; Harley's the most. And today she announced that she hates e-readers because they are putting printing companies out of business. I guess we are like old shoes, too comfortable to get rid of, and too old to break in new ones!

We share a lot of the same memories, I guess that's what keeps us friends. I am glad that she now lives far away and I only see her a couple times a year. More than that might be more than I could take. To her everything is "black and white" - there are no shades of grey, and she is always right. I don't like to argue, so talking to her on the couple subjects (see above) that we really disagree on, is pretty non-existent on my part. And, for some reason when we get together she always has to bring them up. Probably trying to bludgeon me into agreeing with her!

So I'm still jobless, BUT I do have a couple of interviews in the New Year. On the 17th of January, I'm through to th 3rd stage (out of 4) for an assistant directorship of a place called 'Explore learning', which is basically a centre that teaches Maths and English to kids between 4 and 14...I /really/ want this job. It's a perfect fit! But we'll just have to wait and see, I suppose.

I'm also going to be doing some Voice Acting soon. Woo! For free snippets of audio books, which is very cool indeed. I'm not getting paid for it, but I'm hoping that it'll turn into a paid job in the future - even if it's only a very small amount, I'd like to be able to afford a decent snowball mic and such so I can do it properly.

IQ is also going well - the website should be done by the end of January at the latest...so be sure that I'll be bringing the launch party to your good selves as well!

Does anyone have any great plans to see in the New Year?

It is a family tradition for all the women to go out and shop or just look (that is what I do). There are normally about 6 or 7 of us that go. It can be hectic but I enjoy going out and getting my spirit boosted!! And it is nice for the girls to go out together. We don't do it often enough. __________________ Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Turns out I got a Merit, which isn't half bad...looking forward to getting my transcript and Dissertation back though...I want to work on that a bit more, since I have people in the publishing industry wanting to read it. Talking of publishing...Inspired Quill is doing well. We have two titles published, with another one coming out next week, and one-per-month for the foreseeable future after that. it's a /lot/ of work...especially since me and the two other team members aren't getting paid! And that's the only downside I have at the moment. I've been job hunting for almost three months now, and I still haven't found anything. I mean, I've been going for some cool 'career' type stuff...but I got rejected from 'Build a Bear' last week, for crying out loud! ...that hurt. >.>

If anyone was interested in why I left the NKT.. it's hard to explain. I guess I just stopped having fun there and had to move on. So after I left, RL got in the way a bit, but also I took a phlebotomy class in the meantime and passed it (I still need to take a certification test to become "official" and take my clinicals..but there are like, no jobs at ALL around where I live, and moving to a bigger town is just not doable at this time). So right now I'm kinda just being a stay-at-home.. money is not awfully tight, so we're okay.. but another paycheck would definitely be nice.. coughs Erm.. anyway, moving on. Next?

I went out the front door with a bag of trash for the garbage can and startled the bird, which had decided the wreath on our door made a good snoozing spot. Our kids did that sort of thing I believe in Physics class in High School. Teams had to devise a way to keep the egg safe from a high drop, usually off the roof of the school. Out the door to work again. I am working this month for a lady whose husband is a Marine in Afghanistan. He was able to get the month of Dec. as leave and they met up in San Diego for two weeks. Now they are back here in town for two weeks and might visit the kids tomorrow. It would be lovely if he came in uniform, I think the kids would be really awed. However. Daycare. On Thrurs I will get those 2 plus the 3 year old until some time Sat. When ever their mother gets off work. When I have them I have them the entire day and night. It is a 30 min. drive to where they live. Too far to drive everyday. Melissa is closeing the resturant she works at Sat. the owner wants her to close at 9:00PM. Melissa told him. She was closing at 6:00. If he didn't like it he could find someone else to close. It's been two years, since. Everyone says it looks nice, but I don't think it improved my looks any(meaning the hairstyle is nice, but I am still ugly.. ) It was getting too long and causing headaches. I'm just not one for having really long hair I guess... it felt like 10 pounds slid off my head. Now it'll be easier to take care of and less "oh god the tangles, ow ow ow!"

Hubby prefer it long. I let it grow out until I can't stand it then cut it short. Kibby might be going to a skateing rink New Years Eve. They have a special skate it starts at 7:30 and goes until 1:00 am. She is hoping her boyfriend will be going. I'm not sure if I am ready for her to have a boyfriend. I guess it does not matter if I am ready or not. Re: What is happening I'm gradually reading through the Pern books and making careful notes so I can write up pages for the Pern wiki. Obviously, it's taking a fair bit longer than I thought it would - still tackling ATWOP at the moment; but I've dealt with the character lists for most books now, so once I have noted each page that a character appears on, I can write their pages with ease. At the moment, I'm planning to finish the Ninth Pass, then the First Pass (so I can write up some of my old forum posts; like which Stake belonged to who), then the Second (or First Interval, rather) and Sixth Passes so I can finally tackle the Third Pass (and Second Interval) and then add Todd's changes (and possibly list explanations for the mistakes); rather than do them earlier and make things confusing when things from the earlier books don't quite add up! I'm also planning on tracking down Dragonfire and Dragonharper (the Crossroads gamebooks, not the Todd books), so I can add synopses and character lists from them - they may not be canon, but they arguably deserve a mention on the wiki.

She hates tattoos so much I've never told her I have two. She hates motorcycles; Harley's the most. And today she announced that she hates e-readers because they are putting printing companies out of business. I guess we are like old shoes, too comfortable to get rid of, and too old to break in new ones! We share a lot of the same memories, I guess that's what keeps us friends. I am glad that she now lives far away and I only see her a couple times a year. More than that might be more than I could take. To her everything is "black and white" - there are no shades of grey, and she is always right. I don't like to argue, so talking to her on the couple subjects (see above) that we really disagree on, is pretty non-existent on my part. On the 17th of January, I'm through to th 3rd stage (out of 4) for an assistant directorship of a place called 'Explore learning', which is basically a centre that teaches Maths and English to kids between 4 and 14...I /really/ want this job. It's a perfect fit! But we'll just have to wait and see, I suppose. I'm also going to be doing some Voice Acting soon. Woo! For free snippets of audio books, which is very cool indeed. I'm not getting paid for it, but I'm hoping that it'll turn into a paid job in the future - even if it's only a very small amount, I'd like to be able to afford a decent snowball mic and such so I can do it properly. IQ is also going well - the website should be done by the end of January at the latest...so be sure that I'll be bringing the launch party to your good selves as well! Does anyone have any great plans to see in the New Year?
