Default Anyone here ride?

two-wheels-and-a-motor "ride", I mean.

I ride a TL1000S that's a little tweaked. Closest thing I can get to that dragon I've always wanted. Anyone else do any motorcycling?

So, who else here rides horses then?

[As far as the two-wheeled type of riding goes, I'm happy enough sticking to the type of bike that'll burn calories.]

Motorbike riding, no. I'd love to get one though...But there's no way I can afford one and a car, which I need for work. (It'd be a bit difficult carting a guitar and keyboard on a bike )

damn...I dunno about how it all works in ausieland (though they have some wonderful beginner restrictions I adore) but here if you want a bike, you can have a bike. My first bike I got for free and I still ride it (1979 Suzuki GS750E). There's always really, really cheap rides to be had around here...and they're stupendously gentle on my wallet. Liabillity insurance for my XJ400 (my back-up streetbike) is $32 a year and she gets 65 miles per gallon. Comes warmer months and all I do is ride...saves me a fortune in fuel.

Used to ride horses, but my horse is dead, and that's far too expensive a hobby to keep up with ice dance and ballroom. Two-wheels--while I find wimpy little Vespas oddly appealing, I've known too many MEs who call the big bikes "Donorcycles" (as in organ donors.) And yet...there's a certain appeal. Especially to British Triumphs.

I ride horses at every possible opportunity, and a push-bike in the summer (as opposed to when it's minus degrees and snowing )

We use to own three horses (one for each of us), and we loved to ride all the time...taking care of them though was a full time job for me, and after about five years we moved and had to sell them, we still miss our horses!!!

As for Motorcycles, when I was a young girl, I use to ride with my father on his Harley Davidson. We use to go on "rallys" or tours, with his bike club on the weekends.

Vespas are great! I'd love to add one of them and a Rukus to my collection. Low displacement bikes are a hobby of mine...especially wierd ones that no one's ever heard of (like the 1964 Harley Davidson Sprint Roadbike I'm working on right now).

Don't let yourself be daunted by the "horror" stories people come up with. Sure folks get hurt on bikes but practicing common sense and wearing propper protective gear will eliminate the largest portion of frequent injuries...most injuries on a bike are due to stupidity of the rider (too fast for enviroment and impropper protective gear = #1 reasons). I've gone down numerous times while racing and some have been from triple digit speeds. Good helmet, good jacket, real denim jeans or leathers, heavy gloves, quality boots...you're gold. I've walked away from each incident with only an occasional bruise...but I can't go get the mail without suffering similar injury.

Oh, and horses can't breath fire...

All the ones I've ridden. Also, all the horses I've ridden have had a tendency to turn around and bite me. This is something else bikes don't do.

Horses know when you don't like them. And then they give you more reasons not to
I think horses are more comfortable to ride than motorbikes. But that's me.

More comfy? Dunno...I've got a couch at home with 12" single density memory foam cushions with really supple and soft leather wrapping that isn't as comfortable as my TL's Corbin seat and lowered rearsets. I've never been able to ride a horse for more than an hour before my rump starts protesting. Comfort is like beauty, though; it's in the posterior of the beholder.

Ride long enough and the muscles stop hurting. I know I'd feel worse than a groin pull if I rode now, but a few weeks and it would stop.

I think I'll stick with dancing, and getting there on four wheels!

nah it's not the muscles...after years on dirtbikes and streetbikes the muscles are toned to doing just about any variety of "riding". It's my hip sockets trying to exit my body through the lack of flesh and meat that is my ass.

Yeah Makenzie after a few try's you'l be fine...but then I woudn't entirely know the pain of it as I've been ridingfo nine years and have good legs and butt muscles. The most pain I've suffered-apart from falling off -is when got back on after I screwed my knee up.

I took a few horse-riding lessons last year, but it was too expensive to keep up with...I wish I could have.

As for motorcycles, I've been known to take a ride on my boyfriend's bike. Not sure what kind it is though.

Hey, Hans! Can you get this kid in touch with Anne? He's needing one of her fire-breathing horses.

Where do you think she based her dragons from?
