It's worth trying the first book in each co-authored series, to see how you like it. Definitely the different co-authors' styles influence the books strongly; you might like some and not like others. I definitely enjoy some more than others.

I will have to wait until I can find it at the library. At the moment, I have no bookcases for all my books at my home. Mind you, the daughter of mine is wanting a cat so we might get it first before my books and horses have "rooms" of their own.

Nope to all 3! I have read the majority of the Pern series (currently re-reading) and the Tower and The Hive series. I will get there though!

My book arrived yesterday!

I don't like buying the hardcovers, but the cover is so nice and I couldn't resist buying a whole book about barque cats just because of it being a hardcover.

I have only read a few pages so far, but I was wondering a bit about the dediction to, among others, Punkin. I thought Anne had a cat called Pumpkin, but am I remembering wrong? Maybe Punkin is another cat?

I'm pretty sure Punkin is/was one of Eann's moggies.

Nope, to me Annie has always called him Punkin so I put in Punkin even though I'm sure it is really a nickname for Pumpkin. Also, I stand corrected on Chessie's name--she was Anne's sister-in-law Sarah Brookes' cat really, so her name was propurrly Chessie Brookes rather than McCaffrey.

Cwett and Cheryl, That's why the publisher was offering Changelings free as an ebook so people could try the first book in the Twins series to see if they liked it.
Obviously, the books done with me or with Todd, which are the current collabs, are going to be different than ones that are all done by Anne. The ones with me will probably have more humor and somewhat less romance and Anne says I do good villains. Also I use fantasy elements more often than Anne does so I'd say that while her solo books are Science Fiction/Fantasy ours together are more Fantasy/Science Fiction because I am primarily a fantasy writer. I will never do dragons in the collabs as Todd is the dragon dude unless Gigi ever decides to write something in the Pern world. And I have no plans or aspirations to write in any of the worlds Anne created alone except for the Acornas, which were intended as a collaborative project to begin with, first with Margaret Ball and then with me. Catalyst is not set in the Tower and Hive time or place--think of it, if you will, as a prequel in the history of the breed. Also, the Acorna's Children books, the Twins of Petaybee books, and the Tales of the Barque Cats books (Catacombs was turned in the first of Nov.) were all written for the young adult market.

I finished reading the book today, and would very much like to read the next one. But I guess I have to wait a while.
I think my favourite character is Chester. I kept waiting to grow more fond of Jared, but it never quite happened. On the other hand I warmed up to his dad toward the end.

Thanks for a great book!

You mean Jubal? (Jubal is Chester's boy, Jared is the vet. We got into J names a lot for the characters for some reason) Well, how can a human being compete with a kitten, after all? Annie's favorite character is Pshaw-Ra.

I ordered my copy this weekend and I cannot wait to receive it.

However, I think I might have to wait until the end of January, as it was indicated in the shipping info.

Wondering whether there will be any telepathy in the books

Nina, I don't think we can do a book without telepathy--not the same as in the Tower and Hive books, however.

Yes, I meant Jubal.
See, I can't even remember his name, and he had such a big part in the book. He obviously didn't make too big an impression on me.

Jared (the vet) is one of the reasons I'm looking forward to the next book. I'm expecting him to pull his act together and speak his mind.

UK publishers need to get off their rear ends but it's coming from the USA so at least I'll get to read it and it'll be a waiting game for a few weeks, oh well. There's my xmas vouchers a-waiting it's arrival.

I second that Jube! It is getting harder and harder to get the UK 1st editions when they come out in the stores.... It's driving me nuts! The new Anne Rice novel came out a few weeks ago and I had to get a paperback because the stores did not get the hardcovers!!!! Ugghhhh...

I guess I will have to do what you have done and order this at Dymocks, so that I can have a hardcover!
