Default A shopping I did go

Well, since I had to go pick up Fred's new contact lenses I thought I'd have a peek in R.J. Julia's - across the street. I'm afraid I did not find anything I'm hunting for other people, that may require a trip to "Barnes and 'Snowball' " (hehe). However, I did get a couple things there and an interesting item in the used bookstore here in Guilford. This is it, then:

Harper Hall Trilogy, cover art by Sammy Yuen, Jr. - These were in the "Teen" section of the store, and there was absolutely none of Anne's work in the SciFi section!

However, in the SciFi section I did get a copy of a book titled "An Unexpected Apprentice" by Jody Lynn Nye.

Then down the street to the used book store. I discovered a very cute ex-library copy (Cover Craft) of a Piers Anthony novel "Golem in the Gears". I used to read everything by him I could get my hands on, but kind of wore myself out on his stuff. However, this is an adorable little paperback, first edition, maybe 7 inches high by 5 inches wide. AND the cover has the cover art on it, instead of a "dust-jacket" -that's what I like, what a great idea!

Yay for new books!

Well, goofed on that. I meant to say that the Anthony is a Hardback, not paper back. Sheesh! *rollingeyesatself*

Always good to find books you can give a good home to.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Cilla, you make me yearn for the days when I was close to Seattle. It was a joy to run to a book store whenever I felt the desire as there are SO many there. There are only a couple where I'm at now and one doesn't carry hardly any Anne and the other puts their store stamp inside the covers of the book! So I don't go like I'd want to. Glad you got some goodies tho!!

Congratulations Cilla...glad to hear that you were able to find a few treasures for yourself, at the local book stores...I need to have a day to go through one of my local book stores too, as its been long enough for them to have a few new treasure for me.

Finding book treasures - what a nice way to spend time *sighing longingly*

Congratulations with the finds

The Rowan is my favourite!

"The name rowan is believed to derive from the Norse runa - "a charm". It was often planted outside houses to ward off witches. On May Day a spray of rowan leaves was hung over doors to repel evil, and wells dressed with rowan to keep witches away. The rowan, or mountain ash, is found commonly in Scotland, sometimes clinging to a rock face."
