There has only ever been one F'lar for me - Adrian Paul
and Orlando Bloom would make a great Jaxom Catherine Zeta Jones would be my Lessa and if Robbie Coltrane can appear as a giant in the Potter films I'm sure CZJ could be shrunk a bit ! F'nor would be Johnny Depp Robinton - Richard Harris Lytol - Liam Neeson Mirrim - Zoe Wannamaker D'ram - Viggo Moretenson for starters |

My dream cast would include Richard Dean Anderson, Johnny Depp, Viggo Mortensen, Heath Ledger and Orlando Bloom ^^
F'lar: Richard Dean Anderson F'nor: Faramir (whoever plays him anyway) Lessa: Veerle Casteleyn (she's only 4'9) Jaxom: young Heath Ledger Last edited by enkeli; May 17 2007 at 01:42 AM. |

Yeah, actually I like the Kate Beckinsale for Lessa idea.
Not much of a Baldwin fan (don't kick me out.) And if Connery were to play anybody of Pern it should probably be Robinton. But, he's got such a voice...it would have to be just right. Brosnan isn't bad because his voice can cover a few dimensions and still have that appeal. I like Connery, don't get me wrong. Tommy Lee Jones is the same way... he's got such strong features. Orlando Bloom is a dream, what can I say. But, he was mainly an unknown before LOTR and it would be great if the Pern movie turned out like that. Giving other actors a try. Well, I've said too much. It's fun to think about and ponder on who would make a great cast.

I love the idea of Catherine Zeta Jones as Lessa though...I also like that Veerle Casteleyn for her as well.
Another one...what about that one that plays I think Inara on Firefly?

I've always pictured Young Carrie Fisher as Lessa, especially when she (as Princess Leia) gets that feisty spark in her eye, with her hair all crackelly around the edges cause she's irritated or mad at Han.
That said, F'lar...Would prolly not be Harrison Ford... I've looked through stuff, and while not perfect (I had someone else in mind, though I don't know who it is) I put forth either Jason Behr, or the guy that plays Ted Sprague on Heroes... Although, Hugh Jackman would be cool with long hair again. Sebell, my friend Nicolas Schneider, who plays far more instruments than should be allowed by one man, and wrote over 20 songs before his 18th birthday. That and Nic acts, looks, even has a distinct stride like Sebell. Robinton, I dunno... He's so, hard... I first thought of Christopher Lloyd, when it talks about how his skin is across his face, but he's too serene and carries too much presence... Christopher Lee? Too bass... Liam Neeson? Ehhhh... Forget it! Someone else come up with Robinton. Or Jeremy Irons. Fandarel--Vin Deisel with long grizzly hair and beard. Right voice and muscles. Though, there were others...forgot. Fax--The guy who plays Nathan Petrelli on Heroes. (Hint, look for an angry/serious/thinking picture of him) R'gul--John Rhys Davies C'gan--Johnny Depp (older, but has a boyish face) ...I think that's it for now (brain's dead due to no sleep...) |

I agree with younger Carrie Fisher as Lessa. I always giggle when Leia gets the whole hands on hips, chin up thing going with the obstinate, feisty sparkle in her eyes because it reminds me of Lessa when she's about to have it out with someone, particularly F'lar.
Shame that Harrison couldn't be F'lar, he and Carrie had a good connection. On top of that, they were good at playing the whole "bantering and getting under each others skin" thing one minute, but then later on being and becoming one of the sweetest couples in history. From wanting to kill each other to becoming soulmates in heaven, I love couples like that. ![]() Though Jason Behr...hm yes indeed. He'd make a good younger F'lar. What about James Caviesal? Or Eric Bana?

I've always thought of Marc Singer for F'lar. Tall, angular, rakish good looks. Rutger Hauer might well work.
Laura San Giacomo for Lessa. Petite and well rounded. The only other one that comes to mind would be Lindsay Lohan for Kylara. She's got the same amoral predilections as Kylara. Last edited by J'ohn; Jan 19 2008 at 01:16 PM. |

Let's not bash actors, please. Criticism is fine, but outright bashing of actors is unnecessarily rude.
Marc Singer has the looks and charisma for F'lar, but he's too old for the initial books now.

If it's not too late to join in?
I think I'd like Nathan Fillion as F'lar, because he's proven he is spectacular in a leadership role. F'lar had to make his own way with the dragons and riders he had before the Oldtimers were brought forward, and I think the guy who played Captain Mal to perfection could pull off the intense, almost desperate, even conniving attitude F'lar had. For Lessa, I'm afraid I have to go with another "Firefly/Serenity" actor and choose Morena Baccarin. She's already proven she has great on-screen chemistry with Fillion, and she is quite beautiful; she could pull off Lessa's looks so easily. Her run as Inara did not give her a lot of chances to try for a more driven character, but Inara was intelligent, and Morena did wonderfully in the action scenes of "Serenity", giving her an intensity that just plain kicked butt on the big screen. If she focused that into Lessa's cunning, I think it could be spectacular. For some reason, I see Christopher Eccleston as Fax. He can be quite forceful when in character, and imagining him in a leather vest, swaggering about as the arrogant, sociopathic Fax comes so easily. I've heard his voice ring with scorn and anger as The Doctor; that could be part of it. F'nor is a tough one. So's Robinton. Lemme get back to you on that.

I don't think GHarris is serious, AnnMarie. I think he just recast "X-Men" as Pern, which works some places (okay, so I just want Hugh Jackman in ANYTHING--I even sat through "Van Helsing" for the man), and in others...(Famke Jansen as Brekke? Well, at least James Marsden would get the girl this time....)

If I had to cast anyone from X-Men as Robinton, I'd actually say Sir Ian for the simple fact that I love his voice and bearing. The man is capable of charisma plus.
