Default where to find these books?

I was at the bookstore today and also at a library book sale. Unable to locate any of Anne's ship books. I will continue looking but which one should I start with? Crystal Singer or ?...I think I read Ship who Sang years and years ago.

Crystal Singer is separate from the ship books, so you could reasd them in any order you want. Try a local library. Or order them online... there's www.ebay.com www.amazon.com www.barnesandnoble.com and a billion others...

Personally I'd read The Ship Who Won before The Ship Errant, and The Ship Who Fought before The Ship Avenged, since Errant and Avenged are both sequels...

Read as follows: (SHIP SERIES)

The Ship Who Sang,

The City Who Fought, (pst G.T, think Simeon would be most upset at being a ship, seeing he's a space station )
The Ship Avenged (sequel)

The Ship Who Won,
The Ship Errant (sequel)

Partnership,

The Ship Who Searched.

CRYSTAL SINGER SERIES:
Crystal Singer,
Killashandra,
Crystal Lines.

There's also omnibus's in both series if you wish to pursue the 2-in-1 or 3-in-1 books.

I read the Crystal Singer series completely out of order the first time, so it really doesn't matter how you read it honestly

As for the Ship books, order doesn't really matter at all, again I read them completely out of order. But, you do want to read Won before Errant and Fought before Avenged.

Easy enough to do when every other book has the word "Ship" in it

I would think that for a fan new to these series...it would be best to read them in some sort of order...if only in the order that Anne wrote them in. She does mention the Ship Who Sang and others in different follow up books. So for them, not to get to confused I would say Jube's book order is the best, for the first time through.

I would change that list and read "The City Who Fought" before "The Ship Who Won" - the opening of TSWW takes place at the station after the events of TCWF.

This is the publication order of the Ship Books:

The Ship Who Sang
Partnership
The Ship Who Searched
The City Who Fought
*The Ship Avenged (sequel to City, by Stirling only)
The Ship Who Won
*The Ship Errant (sequel to Won, by Nye only)

You might also keep an eye out for the omnibus editions of some of the books:
Brain Ships (Partnership and The Ship Who Searched)
The City and the Ship (The City Who Fought and The Ship Avenged)
The Ship Who Saved the Worlds (The Ship Who Won and The Ship Errant)

As for actually finding the books, only a very large bookstore is likely to keep copies in stock, and even then it'll be hit and miss on all the titles. Best bet is to order online. I'd order new copies thru amazon.com, or used through bookfinder.com or ebay.com

Another place to look for the Brain and Brawn series as E-books is at the Baen Online Store, which is affiliated/partnered with Del Ray (I think they may both be Random House imprints, but I'm not entirely sure.)

They have them up on their site if you want to pick them up in eBook format: http://www.baen.com/author_catalog.a...hor=amccaffrey

Sadly, no direct Kindle version, which I personally prefer because the Kindle tracks notes/bookmarks between all the different devices, but it is nice to see them up there!
