I don't have a very long list. I'm always adding more, you know. But these are staples at the moment:
Anne McCaffrey (I just like writing her name> wink)
Stephen Donaldson (the covenant series)
Lois McMaster Bujold
Mary Stewart (especially, A Walk in Wolf Wood)
and, Octavia Butler
::sheepish grin::
I admit, I also like the Harry Potter series.
Ok, that's it!
"There's no explainin' East or West as they say in Bree." - LOTR
"The Answer to the Great Question . . . of Life, the Universe and Everything . . . Is . . . Forty-two."--Deep Thought
"Whatever zapped me seems to have burned off the outlived dross and stupidities any human collects along the way. I don't mind being two hundred and fifteen years old. In fact, it's fun, in a bizarre fashion."

I'd have to say Tolkien tops my list, followed closely by Terry Pratchett. Everyone else is pretty much on an equal footing after that.
