Question What other authors do you enjoy?

Anne's books probably aren't the only ones in the library -- be it your local public library or your private book collection. Among other authors found on my shelves are Robin McKinley, Katherine Kurtz, Elizabeth Moon, and Elizabeth Kerner.

What other authors do you enjoy? Are you looking for a recommendation for a new author to try? Well this is the place to post!

I like Melanie Rawn and would love to read Elizabeth Kerner.
I've also got a lot of Raymond Fiest, Terry Brooks, Kate Forsyth, David Eddings and a few others who I'm sure will come to me.

Big list! Ok, outside the Star Trek series, and also in random order: A.C. Crispin, Julie E. Czerneda, Tara K. Harper, Lisanne Norman, Jack McDevitt, Elizabeth Moon, Poul Anderson.

Only listing authors I own more than one book by that is not a short story collection, and actually hav re-read more than one.

Have you read The Forever Kind and The Broken Sword by Molly Cochran and Warren Murphy? I love those two. And while searching for the authors' names at amazon, I've just found there's a third one now! Woohoo!

I should warn you that they aren't historical fiction per se... They're set in modern times, with a reincarnated Arthur...and some other reincarnated figures, but they're really really cool!

Shani,

I'm not sure but I think it was you who posted a thread about Kate Forsyth on the earlier site. I've picked up "The Witches of Eileanan" and I'm almost done with it. Thoroughly enjoying it. I went out to all my fav bookstores today and only one had any of her books---the one I'm reading and "The Skull of the World" Book 5 in the series. My question---can I read them out of synch or is it important to read the sequentially?

Some of my favourite authors aside from Anne, whose books I believe I have the most of, are:

Orson Scott Card (the Ender series)
Raymond E. Feist
Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman (loved the Death Gate novels!)
David Eddings
Terry Brooks
J.R.R. Tolkien (am re-reading the series - wanted to finish ROTK before the EE came out, but i'm falling behind )
R.A. Salvatore
Katherine Kurtz

After all of my Fantasy ones, the rest of my bookcase is taken up by many, many equestrian books as that is my other big passion

I enjoy all sorts of books on all sorts of subjects, my favorites are too many mention. I get very unnerved and twitchy if I don't have at least one book on the go! one for during the day, one that challanges my mind, and a calming book for bed time but not one that I can't put down otherwise I'll read thro' the night!
Books are to me Wonderous things and I can not abide people who read a book then give it away or as I know in one case would BIN them!
Did'nt remain a friend with them for very long! They would'nt even give them to the local charity shop!!!
Worst sceen in a film 'The Grail' film in the Indiania Jones films where the Natzi's were burning the books!
Its easier to list authors that I have'nt read yet!

You might want to try Knight Life by Peter David. It's about King Arthur running for Mayor of New York.

Default Re: What other authors do you enjoy?

JK rowling, Gregory Maguire (wicked) clive barker (abarat) and a few others...it's more like fairy tales than sci fi...but if someone would talk me into reading the his dark materials trilogy i would appreciate it... ive been trying, but i'd hate to go buy the books and then hate them ( and i know that the library is a good way to test run novels, but by the time i get done with them theyre so dog eared and abused that it's really kind of mean for me to return them that way!)
