Yes, just eating lettuce will do it in some places--it's not your hands that are the problem.

I thought "the effect of eating too much lettuce is said to be soporific, but then I'm not a rabbit ..."

I'm mostly speaking of it carrying amoebic dysentery. In Vietnam some of the hospital staff who had eaten unwisely "on the economy" had to have IV fluids every day before they went on duty to replace the fluids lost due to amoebiasis (not sure of the spelling at this point). Not a very fun type topic though.

Well Tanya and Mike certainly got an entire folk club singing it heartily and, except for the visitors (SJSlack and me), there wasn't an Annefan in the audience.

So this is what I get for idly stumbling around the site ... lots of silliness.
For anyone who might be interested, we have a short tour of the UK slated for May/June this year. Very few shows in there, but we have some down time. Here's an idea ... Anybody got a living room or similar space that you could fit 25 or 30 people in? We do house concerts y'know. THEN you could say we sang the song (and lots of others) in YOUR LIVING ROOM. How cool would that be?

Alas, our sitting room is still too darn small. However, there is a local pub with a larger room - looking into it.

Anybody out there want to come to Prestonpans to see Mike and Tania about 15-20 May?

Well I mentioned this on the websites of a couple of localish folk clubs but, so far, no bites.

Mike, any chance of letting us know the dates and places you already have booked? I didn't get a chance to note them all down before they disappeared from your web site. I know you start in Carlisle on May 16th and are in Llantrissant Folk Club on May 27th, and you visit various places in Yorkshire, but I have forgotten the details.

I was hoping to post the dates on this site like last year, so that other MOMers can come along and hear Eann's wonderful song for themselves (plus several other wonderful creations of your own).

P.S. Eann, it would be great to see you in this part of the world if you can make it over again. Perhaps one day. Like Lanen said.

By the way, Mike and Tania did once very generously give us a house concert in our living room. It was rather too small (and the carpet spoiled the acoustics a bit, but Mike clevery compensated with a sheet of cardboard). I think we had about 15 people crammed into the room, though. A house concert by Mike and Tania is a fantastic thing to behold...

Yes it is. Mike is very clever about compensating, improvising, and plays drum and guitar nicely too. Among many other skills. Tania has a few herself.

OK, quick (belated) clarification between the two perspectives on this story: MOST of the people in the audience were falling out of their chairs laughing. Possibly all of them. But the serious folkies in the audience probably felt honor-bound to take offense, and those are the people who decide who gets to perform at the festival. We haven't been asked back... but it was well worth it!
