Yippee; I got lucky and was able to buy pristine first editions of the Bantam editions of Red Star Rising (in the US known as Dragonseye) and The Masterharper of Pern, two volumes I still lacked in my colelction in the beforementioned editions. Prices were very resonable between 4 and 5 pounds per book ex postage.

Brenda, although his dragons are far from realistic (or really Pernese) I do like Steve Weston's artwork.
What was a total surprise to me is that on the back of the UK Bantam hc dustjacket there's is a picture of Robin Wood's marvelous oil painting of Masterharper Robinton (of which Anne owns the original). It's such a nice portrait, it's the perfect rendition of the Masterharper! I mean the middle one of the three I have of him in the Pern Encyclopedia: http://www.pern.nl/pe/R_table.html (scroll down a bit)

I love getting to see these covers...Steve Weston is a very talented artist. I have recently found out that he designed his dragons very carefully. He put a great deal of thought while drawing them so that they would actually be able to fly in his opinion.
He tried to design them so that they really looked like they could actually fly and manover like Anne wrote them to do in the books. [QUOTE Steve Weston"I designed the Dragon to look as if it would actually be able to fly: stable and light, with a large wing area. Once established, this type of Dragon was used on all the other Dragon paintings done for Anne McCaffrey. The original concept was therefore very important." Quote] Congratulation Hans on adding two more lovely books to your growing collection>
