Default Santa disguised as the Postman

Well, a rather large box was delivered to my house today! It's from WYSIWYG books and contains my winnings from an auction recently. But I'm not opening it till Christmas! (not an original idea, but one I swiped from Lady Maelin!) I can't wait to see the lot of signed goodies!!!!!

Becky, I know just how you're feeling.... under my tree is loaded with all manner of Christmas goodies. I can't wait until Christmas morning when I get to open them all up and get to hug a couple of them... there's a few under the tree that are very special to me...hopefully!!!

Maelin, I was hoping that unholy big stack of books that Cheryl sent on its way back in November would arrive in time for christmas; but I;ve given up hope.

No, no AMC goodies under our tree

I got a second box that went straight under the tree on Saturday! This is going to be such an exciting Christmas. I've never gotten any Anne books for Christmas. Tho every day I'd purchase and Anne book and receive it was like a Christmas day!
So Hans just think of it as an extra Christmas day when your books do arrive.

30 pounds of books better feel like Christmas whenever it comes!

But I'm sorry I didn't get it mailed soon enough.

Don't be sorry, Cheryl. I'm happy as can be with you acting my agent, collecting/receiving and reposting the books. You'll not hear me complain, oh no!

I have some small consolation cause yesterday I put my Santa hat on and went out for some additional gifts... and got myself - uhm, got Hans - hardcover Dublin by Rutherford, mmp Jingo by Pratchett and mmp Aurian by Maggie Furey (new to me); all on sale

Santa is giving Niels a 70-300 zoomlens for his new Canon 400D supercamera, so what's a few books

The boxes of books were so great to open! They WYSIWYG books are 7 signed McCaffrey books. Most of the books I have are not signed. So I'm, um, upgrading, I guess you could call it? The books are beautiful and it was a fantastic lot to win and save for Christmas! I had a lot of fun with them. Especially how they were packaged! They were in a box with stuffing around and then each book was wrapped in tissue paper and then wrapped with newspaper around that! So I was forever getting them open. But oh, it was so much fun!
The other box had some paperbacks that I'd also won in an auction. Not the best of condition, but I'll see what I can do about cleaning them up.
Hope everyone's Christmas was Merry!

I have not only been collecting Anne McCaffrey books for a while now but also vintage Walter Foster Art books since I was a child starting with my art, and have 58 of the very old ones made back in the thirties, forties and fifties. This year Martin found and bought me three more of them that I didn't have for Christmas...I just love these books... two of the new ones are portrait editions, and one is a landscape edition. These books are wonderful for teaching you how to do all maner of art work...especially for anyone wanting to learn to draw or paint, and they are not very expencive.

Maelin, those books are wonderful! There's nothing like artwork from the 40's and 50's. I know you'll learn a lot and enjoy reading over them! What a wonderful gift from your hubby!

Becky, I had the same experience with Thom of Wysiwyg Nice uh? And of course they were US newspapers, so a novelty to me

And... upgrading? Will you be selling the doubles? I'd probably be interested in a few?

And did you see Tea with the Black Dragon on eBay!

Hans, sure I'll send you a list of what I've got that are doubles now. So did you have fun reading the newspapers when you got the books?

As far as Tea W/Black Dragon........WOW! That's a beautiful copy! I'm wondering if the Reserve is the Buy it Now price, more than likely it is, and if so then too much for me! I'd spend it for a book of Anne's but not for just her introduction to someone else's book. I've got the black boxed copy so that'll suit me just fine.

OH my...that Tea with the BLack Dragon is such a beautiful looking book, and a double signature... but completly out of my book budget too. I love the box that it's in with the little dragon on the top of it.

Maelin, I was sorely tempted to put a bid in on it, just because of that box! I love that! But a few hundred is out of my range for a box, even with a dragon on it!

I didn't get any Anne books for Christmas either (I don't trust my family to get them!) - the only books I have got so far are three Eddings books (the Dreamers series). I much prefer to buy Anne books myself since I can get the good ones!
