Default Re: The "Interesting" Book Covers

The covers need nt be explained. Although we would like to see "correct" covers the publishers want to see book sold and if that needs nudity or fanttasy figures or fancy artwork that has nothing to do with the content of the book, so be it. Believe me, they are not interested in coherency or accuracy

Anne/the author doesn't have a say in the matter if she is using a publishing house and the opnly thing she can (and will) do is protest vehemently if a cover is liable to damage her reputation as a writer, which she apparently has done once with a German cover for Damia that even she found lewd (she said it made Damia looking like a whore)

I do understand it's fun to discuss those "different" covers though I, for one, am glad they exist!

Just noticed something!
there are only 2 cover designs with GREEN dragons on them and one's sludge coloured!
there are a few green firelizards and the green watchweyr in Dragon's kin but greenj dragon are really under-represented-considering how often they appear in the books!

and that is all I can say. I've actually had some needlepoints designed from a few of the American covers that I liked but they're burried in a pile at the moment

Some of them were even commercially available as needlepoint patterns for a time. I got a few copies of those.

I think only a handful of Whelan's covers, Edith. Nobody else's.

The needlepoints I had designed were Whalen covers. I MUCH prefer his to most of the others (covers that is). He also has some wonderful other art at his website!
