Exclamation Eurocon - go sign up now for events

In case you don't get the email, or read the to the critical end of it, you can now sign up for certain events at EuroCon that are limited to so many people, including the Banquet and a round table with Anne McCaffrey.

go, sign up right away, especially for the Anne roundtable which will fill quickly!

I told my uncle at least half a dozen times to book the tickets for me, since he was sorting everything else out via his credit card and running up a tab for me.

He ended up not doing it, so I'll only be there on the Saturday.

I'll be buying a weekend pass (200 DKK)

So I guess that rules me out of a few things: c'est la vie

I hope to be coming by coach (can't fly at present, my lungs won't take it); takes 24hrs. Nebo appears full so I may land up in Sarah's carvanserie

Looks like the round table thing with Anne is already sold out.

And Saturday I kind of have to attend my brother-in-law's birthday dinner, so I won't be able to attend the banquet dinner either.

I'm sure I'll see lots of you guys during the convention anyway.

And I'm of course counting on hearing about the round table meeting with Anne from the lucky ones of you who was fast enough to get a ticket to that event.

I did recieved an email from Olav, he said that he had at least recieved mine, for the round table for me and the dinner for both me and Martin. But nothing that says we actually got on the list for either one!!! I would sure be nice to know before we get there, if we are going to be able to actually do either of these events.... sigh!!!

I wrote to Olav yesterday afternoon...and this morning he answered. According to him we will pay for all our events at the door when we are signing in and getting our badges. Seems we won't know if we are on one of the Round Table events or on the list for the Banquet until then...sigh!!

I signed up Lanen and myself for the banquet (twice) but haven't had any kind of confirmation. I hope the system allows one member to sign up another in the comments, but I guess I won't find out until we turn up at the door.

Steven as long as you signed in for each of you... one at a time, it should have enter into the system just fine...or at least that's what Olav told me in one of his emails. Although we won't actually know if we are on the list for the Banquet ...until we sign in at the door to get our badges...and pay whatever extra we owe for the events.

Thanks for the tip. I just signed up separately for Lanen. Better to have signed up too many times than not enough. I assumed that someone would read the comments, but maybe not...

Steven, I guess just mentioning Lanen in the remarks would have worked too as I mentioned my wife and said she's only would be there for the dinner and I would pay for two, to which I imemdiately got un undignified mail from Olav that she'd had to pay for a day ticket and that even all volunteers paid for their tickets :p And that for security nobody could enter without a ticket etc.

High security... I understand because there could be a terrorist hiding among us in a Star Wars trooper costume with a real gun instead of a prop...

Golly, Hans! I'd say that if there's no terrorists hiding out at Dragon*Con with the huge assortment of "weapons", you're probably safe enough at EuroCon. I'm getting the impression that all of you not only have to pay for your convention tickets/badges/entrance, but that there's a separate fee for "special" events, and I don't mean the banquet, which I would anticipate costing extra! That's a bit outrageous, if it's the case!

Cilla

Like D*Con we could pay in advance for the weekend. The earlier you booked the cheaper it was. It was incredibly cheap - I paid £10 for the whole weekend. Thats approx $20 US. To pay for the weekend at the door is still only approx £20. I don't think paying for extras is outrageous, after all in the Walk of Fame you pay for autographs etc. - but then I'm used to UK and European ways

Well, yes. You do pay for autographs in the walk of fame (however, if you don't want an autograph, you also don't have to go there). You don't pay for author's autographs. And, none of the panels/readings/etc. are "extra". But, I'm not sure what UK/European ways are, so maybe I'm just being picky. . .

I've seen people paying for a celebs autograph on TV coverage of US cons and I strongly dislike that (even though I don'tmisgrudge the sometime old celebs their extra income). The moment I have to pay for someones autograph though, I'll be passing on getting one, thanks.

The extra's to be paid for at Eurocon are nothing because, as KC said, the entry fee is ridiculously low; so all in all it's better than a hefty entrance fee with the rest being free because as fan you can chose what to spend your money on.
I remember the fee to WorldCon 2005 in Glasgow being one of the acts that kept me away from there.

I agree, the fees for Eurocon all in all are extremely low in comparison to what is charged at most of the Conventions that we have gone to. They all charge up front from all the members for what it is costing them to pay for whatever is going on... most of it goes to pay for the big name stars fees...and then the site rentals etc. At least with Eurocon we are getting the chance to sit in on the awards Banquet, and three partys if the member is up to it...LOL!!
I don't have a complaint with what their charging for a fee...only with their lack of organization/management skills....and the lack of information is very bothersom...sigh

I heard (Correct me if I'm wrong here) that American 'celebrities' (Especially in films) are not paid continuous royalties from their works, so they charge for their Autographs.

I've no idea. I do know that 2 years ago, right after Hurricane Katrina, Kevin Sorbo was in the "Walk of Fame" at Dragon*Con. He was offering a $5 "photo with him" - all proceeds to go to the relief fund, and he matched it dollar for dollar. That's the best $5 I've ever spent! I don't recall how much he ended up donating, but it was way up in the thousands. That same year I got an autograph for Faren's daughter of Summer Glau. That gave Keita a lot of pleasure, and I was happy to do it!
