I was feeling kind of deprived from not reading any of Terry Brooks' books lately so decided to go on ebay this morning and managed to get a set of one of his trilogies ~ "Genisis of Shannara" and the latest Landover book "Princess of Landover". He was the first author who actually wrote back to me, many moons ago and I still have the letter somewhere so I've got a bit of fondness for his books, besides our Eann who also sent something to me so don't mind me if I'm feeling quite

I've read a number of the Shannara books. Some of them I like more than others. It's been a while since I read them, but I seem to remember that they've been getting harder and harder to follow the plot?

I have the original trilogy on my shelves but, unlike some other series, Shannara couldn't captivate me after those.

I have the original trilogy, but I haven't read them. The books are more of the inherited bunch from my father and grandmother - they're just kind of there, and I haven't had a chance to read any of it yet.

I have the original Shannara trilogy as well, and I bought The genisis of Shannara a while back, but haven't read it yet. The original trilogy was so - so to me... the second and third part were better then the first one to me.

I haven't read all of Terry Brooks books. I read the first Landover Novel and couldn't get into the rest. Shanarra I read up to First King, but couldn't get into that one and dropped it from there.
I've had mixed feelings in this instance. while the books after Sword of Shanarra were pretty good, Sword itself read as a slightly tweaked Lord of the Rings. my opinion there, obviously. I don't know why I couldn't continue in either of the worlds after the point I left off, but that ends up being how I read. I hit a point where the author's story no longer interests me then read no further. |

That's funny, with me it was the other way round. Must tell you that I read them when they came out though, that might have made some difference too.

That's very true GT, but at the time Sword of Shannara came out a lot of fantasy was still very heavily influenced by LOTR and many books were of the Quest variety
