I have kept this up, I just left off posting here as I had a week in which I couldn't download while we shuffled computers around (and then weeks I was away on trips), and then it seemed a daunting task to resize and post links to all the photos. Now of course it's even more daunting, but I would like to get all my photos up here as well and hope to work on it over this next week. Stay tuned!

Still a theme of red. The Verizon bill pic was because I was seeing red after spending hours on the phone with them to straighten out a problem they caused when doing a changeover of our service.

Yeah, clearly whatever the theme was, I went ahead and did my own thing.
I love the juvenille cardinal I caught on day 132, perhaps a fledgling from the nest I pictured earlier (day 108, with both parents feeding chicks). The male cardinal on day 126 was a different one from father of the nest; he and his mate were building a nest in a different bush out my window. Although cardinals usually raise two broods each spring/summer, I know it was a different pair for two reasons -- it was too soon after the first nest learned to fly, when they would still be following their parents around and the parents wouldn't be ready to raise the second batch. And because for the first pair only the female built the nest, the male was a no-show until the eggs hatched, whereas the male of the second pair helped with the nest building.

Those are great, Cheryl! The Robin's nest is probably there because I remember you don't using your front door much And Fiona is looking fantastic!

The front door is getting more use than it used to, with the kids going in and out on their own to play outside. But it's a double door and hangs on the side we keep fixed in place, and they make due with flying away everytime we go in and out (including when I drive up into the garage and never go near the door). I was sure this year that the mom hadn't spent enough time on the nest when it was weeks after when the nest was build and still no sign of hatchlings. But eventually they did--as you'll see in pictures to come!

Hmm, I still need to keep the number of pictures per page down, to help with the loading issues Draco was having. Hence which I keep padding things with more text posts. But I'm still many posts from filling this next page so maybe it's time to drop back to one picture pair per post.

This week the theme was on post-processing photos. I normally don't do much in post besides occasionally cropping, and even less often correcting white balance. I think the current trend of over-using filters in post-processing is silly and definitely not going to be part of my usual photographic style. But... (you knew there was a but coming, didn't you?) I decided to play a bit with it as it was encouraged this week, and the above photo of Galen on the sidelines of his lacrosse game is the result.

Both above pictures from the rose collection at the Cylburn Arboretum. It was the perfect day for photos there, overcast but very bright -- a natural softbox to take photos without shadows.

Returning to silhouettes and geometric forms, because I can. This is one of my dining chairs, which I really like the design of. The contemporary style fits the architectural style of our home, which is a "California contemporary."
