Default YES! It's mine! Mine!

YES!

This was the first time ever I watched an eBay auction online, seeing the seconds tick away until I won the item I bid on: A UK first ed. hardcover of Get off the Unicorn, signed! (I think that it will be inscribed instead of signed, but I don't care). I got one of the remaining two AMC books I really, really want to own.

So, one down, one to go!

Oh, you can tell I'm excited?

Cilla, the only one left is the 1969 Walker & Co, hardcover of Dragonflight...

Apart from a curious ex-library edition that is priced for $90 prices for this book in a good condition start at $400 on Abebooks. The ost expensive one there is a ridiculous $2,500.

As said, I'm biding my time and like happened earlier there will come a time that someone will need a good home for one or doesn't know what he/she is selling and I'll get a good copy for $50

At the time I was gutted, but now I'm rather pleased that I didn't have any money in my Paypal account since you were the person bidding on it ^^

Someone was selling all sorts of McCaffrey books, signed hardbacks, signed paperbacks. One Pegasus paperback, signed!, went unsold for 99 pence...
But I think the hardbacks were all bid on and all staring (well, the signed ones) at 20 pounds ex postage.

No probably not but then again, who knows what pops up in my neck of the wood it would be something I'd have to get into seriously again. I seem to have my moments where I'll go ballistic looking for stuff then I go very, very quiet for ages. Haven't had one of those sessions in ages think I've been too busy being asked by Junior, "mum can we go looking for this, please?" at moment or doing stuff with said child that I haven't had time to look for myself or for someone like yourself. Actually that reminds me that I'll have to find my "show-off" thread, to put the piccy's of all the finds I have found this year - my finds seem to be comparatively small, compared to yours Still you do give us all "food for thought" when you do

Congrats from me too - I might have gone for it had I been in the country (depending on the price of course .

I had a bit of a buying spree on e-bay a few weeks ago and picked up some extra reading copies and different editions of Anne's books I like

The day before I went on holiday (got back yesterday) I picked up a paperback Acorna for 50p in the local library! Thought it would be useful as a swap book sometime.

I then struck lucky in Oxfam (a charity shop) - first time ever. There was a whole shelf of Pern books - hardbacks and paperbacks all from the same donator I couldn't resist even though I have them all only cost me £15-00 for the lot. Now I've got to sort them all out and decide which ones are better than the ones currently on my shelf and think about passing the others on to good homes.

Right, it arrived today (no photo's yet but later) and it's what I thought it was, not signed but inscribed. To Roger the Dodger Ah well, I don't care, I wasn't after a signed copy I needed just a copy with dustjacket.

It's also smaller than I thought it would be. It is the size of the oldest UK and US Pern books, i.e. about an inch less tall than the later hardcover.

It's in excellent condition with only the spine of the dustjacket en the pahe edges showing their age (born 1977) by discolouration, which was to be expected.

Right, photo's:

Front in very good condition, with an example of the extremey strange dragons that Davod Roes made for the covers he did.

Spread, in which you can see the discoloration of the spine.

Title page with, inscribed to "Roger the Dodger"
(and a very good example of a genuine autograph)

Lady Maelin, there is a very good photograph of this cover on the board somewhere. Becky put it p after I remarked I had never actually seen this book. I seem the remember hers was in absolute fine condition with no discoloration of the spine!
