It was prior to my vacation, well over a month ago, that someone in Canada offered a copy of the ARC/Uncorrected Proof of the Del Rey edition of Dragonsdawn. I had been looking long and hard for this book because I especially wanted it as it is the Pern book that has the most differences between the US and UK editions (there's about 40 minor character mentions more in the UK ed.! and many paragraphs are edited, different or deleted/inserted).
This ARC is pretty rare in the sense that you hardly ever see one offered and to get one in great condition for $25,10 (17 euro) is a pretty good deal in my opinion. So I am now the happy owner of this book, the 8th ARC/proof copy in my collection. ![]() The sender had packaged the book wonderfully safe in reused carboard of a box that had a contained a (food) mixer no less ![]() ![]() But the thing that really struck my eye when I received the packet was the novel way of getting too much stamps on a too small packet ![]() ![]()

Great find Hans! I keep forgetting about the differences in Dragonsdawn. I don't have a UK copy but do remember it being mentioned before. I do hope you find some interesting things from the ARC.
![]() Oh, and the packaging is very interesting too! It is funny what people will recycle when shipping items. ![]() ![]()

Hans, that looks like a great addition for your collection. I like the packaging, too. Are you going to keep it? And I'm another who loves getting old newspapers in packages. They've mostly been replaced by "peanuts" these days because they're lighter and cost less to ship.

I must admit I re-use packaging. A lot. -Chuckles-
That's a great proof, isn't it? I got one last year for about £10. I keep meaning to read Ddawn then read through that to see what the differences are, and haven't gotten around to it yet. -Chuckles-

Anneli has beaten you to that, Sara. I've got a word doc for a large part of the book detailing all the differences. It took her a lot of time!
