I found the perfect sig - A Meeting of Minds

And it was too long!
I had to remove all the spaces next to the punctuation and the first line before it would fit!
I would pick one longer than 510 characters!
but it sounded so good when I read it.

its a quote from Hubble which I felt summed up alot of things!
I forgot the sigs tended to be short!

I love the quote. However, in my book a sig shouldn't be very much longer than the post above it, and preferably shorter. I know I'm guilty of occasionally posting one-line replies and my sig is three, so I'm not saying a sig should always be shorter than the post above it. However, the longer the sig, the more pressure it puts on the poster to post interesting things. Not that I'm saying you don't.

That's why I think the length limit is a good idea. I also think that sigs should by preference be at least one size smaller than the post text itself, although I do find more than two colors in a sig text distracting.

I couldn't cut it down anymore than I had or I would have!
cos the end bit is my favourite part!

The length is fine, but you may want to consider shrinking the font a bit...

It looks great now.

I think it's silly that the character codes count towards length... Still, I guess the programmers of this software know what they're doing.

I don't know that it's silly... there has to be some limit on the thing, otherwise it can get too outrageous. I've been around long enough to see some bad ones, and some of those ten years ago or so were massive.

My current one isn't too bad. It's liable to change soon, since I linked my blog to my homepage.

yours is ok, you might want to shrink the text but yours isn't that big!
You thought your sig took a while! this is the 1st proper one since I joined which I think was in November!

(I'm not good at decision making!)
