Rest in Peace, Mom - A Meeting of Minds

After a fifteen month battle with cancer, my mom has passed away. We were able to see her at the end, and my kids (her only grandkids) had a good day with her the day before she passed, eliciting many smiles.

She was not just an awesome mom, but an awesome and inspiring person all around.

A couple pictures from a few weeks ago, when she was still looking healthy and happy.

In this crazy, mixed-up world of ours,
there's always someone who walks along the path of goodness,
someone who will pick up the pieces and make everything seem wonderful,
someone who knows how to make you smile when you need cheering up,
someone who knows when you need a shoulder to cry on,
someone that is just there, always there,
someone who cares and will always tell it to your face what needs to be done,
no matter what life throws at you,
someone who just is that special someone,
someone whom I can call a friend,
that someone is my mum.

Indeed. She got to die at home, and went rather quickly.

I'm sorry for your entire family, Cheryl.

I know exactly what this is like, I've lost two relatives to cancer, a grandmother and an aunt. You never forget them, but after awhile it does get easier.

I'm sorry that your kids won't get to have any more time with their grandmother because those can be the best times as kids get older. From the stuff I've read, it sounds like they have a wonderful woman that they can admire for the mark that she left on the world around her.
