Alaskan Cotton Plant. It's a weed that grows in wet areas. Sometimes they are fluffy like dandelion's, but on the day we saw them they were kind of soggy headed. I think they look like little ghosts.

Old Faithful of California. This is one of those places you drive by the sign and have to go explore although I think maybe we found a brochure at the hotel. It erupts about every 30 minutes and can reach a height of 100 feet. This is just at the beginning of the eruption and of course it's the bubbly steaming water that looks so white. It was the first geyser I'd seen and it was a totally cool place.

I agree with Hans about the lovely icing on Pter domes. I also think Hans Anthuriums look like the 7 minute icing I made for Christmas. Duh!! Why didn't I take a picture of it? It was really tasty and is all gone now.

Me, too. I got a couple more of the outside and started in, but the floor had collapsed in one room in the front (I have a pic). Call me a coward, I didn't go exploring after seeing it.

The outside was too overgrown for wandering around without boots on that day.

I'm looking for houses like that for a series I want to do, "Abandoned America", an idea I had back in the mid-70s. I want things left behind, not just lonely houses.

Bob, My third choice picture was similar to yours, also from Yellowstone. Yours is a lot whiter, mine had bands of brown interspersed.
