This seems like a good day to add to our MoM calendar so we can more properly celebrate in the future - today is almost gone already!

A wee bit of googling turned up this site, from where Appreciate A Dragon Day apparently originates : http://www.donitakpaul.com/fun/aadd/

I think a good way for us to celebrate is with artwork as Mawra has done, and also just to list our favorite literary dragons.

Besides Pernese dragons, my favorites would be the Kantri from Elizabeth Kerner's books, and Maur from Robin McKinley.

The dragon from the Witcher collection of short stories, Villentretenmerth (I had to copy-paste the name from Witcher Wiki), better known in his human form as Borch Three Jackdaws. Then Smaug, especially after seeing and hearing him in the new Hobbit movie. Draco, from the Dragonheart movie.

There is a set of 3 pocket dragons I would to have. The first one is a sleep dragon dragging a coffee cup, the second one is the dragon taking a sip, the third the dragon is bouncing and wide awake.

I love pocket dragons. They don't make them any more and since I don't shop online (my husband does occasionally) I doubt I'll ever have more than the few I've got. I don't have any of the coffee drinking ones.

I have quite a few, and I think I might have some duplicates left from a bulk buy I got on ebay a few years back, but I doubt I have the coffee ones, since I never drink coffee. I consume mass quantities of tea.

Right now I have things packed away, including those extras. I have 78 pocket dragon pieces on display. There's still one I want. It's called "Hotter, hotter, hotter!" and is the only red pocket dragon ever made. Back in the day, it listed on ebay typically around $300 to $400. None on there right now.

Did you ever see the plaques I made? So far there have been 3 made. Two were a pair, facing each other. All three were cut from 1 inch thick white oak planks over 100 years old, which is still about as hard as mild steel, but is not weldable.

I sources for all sorts of dragon patterns for scroll saw work. My prices start at $25 and go up depending on the material it's scrolled into, the complexity or the pattern, framing if needed and so on. Anything from Chinese dragons to a dragon on a skateboard and so on. Let me know if you're interested, and I can point you to pages like this guy ready to climb out of the picture. Notice his claws are outside of the frame.

The site, Wooden Teddy Bear, sells the pattern (which is part of my price) and other supplies. The dragons, fairies, and so on are in the "mythical" section.

There are other sites and patterns, too.

Oh, and the patterns could be cut into colored plastic sheets instead of wood.

I googled "dragon scroll saw pattern and came up with this.

My Night Fury is my '04 Ford Taurus. The headlights look like they have vertical slit pupils when they're on, and with the overall shape of the front of the car, it reminds me of a Night Fury. I tried to get a pic of it, but the "eyes" didn't show up.

Well, it was a vehicle at least. We had a Ford Taurus for years. First car Jeff & I had with automatic transmission (yes, I can drive standard). We drove it for about 10 years, gave it to my daughter's boyfriend when his mother totalled his car (don't ask) and then sold it to his younger brother for $100. He drove it for about a year until it was totalled while it was parked by some jerk who couldn't make the corner. That was a decent car.
