Hey I saw the prize list for last year's McCaffrey quest and there was a very simple bookmark on it and it made me think: Could you possibly adapt your beaded dragon design to something flat? Maybe about an inch and a half? I think it would make an excellent book mark and that slim base shown in the picture is easily available in bronze or silver finish on firemountaingems.com If you were interested they also have a lot of beads and findings and a huge collection of seed beads. I saw your site so i know yours are special, but you might find something you like.
![]() P.S. Sorry I don't know how to hyperlink ![]() P.S.S. On a business note: If you do find things you like, the whole site has all assortable pricing which means every individual unit you select to purchase counts to your total and the more items you get, the less individually they cost. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Let's just say my hip pocket may be substantially empty after all that looking.
Don't mind putting the web link up for you. I had help before from other members so merely passing it on for all to enjoy. I certainly did!!! ![]()

Pernaficionado:
Yes. I do have plans to make a flat dragon. I have several ideas now, but my first goal is to figure out how to do the stitches. See - my dragons are done merely with a ladder stitch, nothing more. Very, very simple. However, Peyote, or Brick, or Square would work better in a bookmark form. Or pendant. Or pin. or barrett. So, in my copious spare time (note the sarcasm there) I plan on trying to actually do the peyote stitch which, for some reason, my tiny little brain cannot grasp. I did just finish a butterfly done with square stitch. Which seems to work quite well, and I will try. Jube: Firemountain gems? OMG I LOVE that place. |

That is awesome Shalyn. I am no good with beading at all, which is why, when I saw the original bookmarks with the bronze dragon, I thought of your beaded dragons instead, and posted this question to you!
I was thinking of a simple silhouette like on the dagger shown in the exhibit hall, With different color beads for detail, like graduated chevrons for neck/back ridges and long lines for wing pinions? Do you remember a few years back, there was a big trend with beaded keychains? the really simple ones were the snake and the lizard, done with those big plastic hair beads? I was wondering if the stitch/pattern could be adapted? |

I don't really want do do looming yet. I'd rather do freestyle first.
I just need to settle down and try beading with different stitches. But at the moment, after I'm done with Sarah's dragon I want to work on more stuffed dragons. One of them will go to D*C for the art contest. |

I've started on it and it's become a green dragon flaming thread. I've got the flame and most of the head done but it takes 45 minutes to do an inch before my body says it needs a break. So I'm doing it bit by bit and managed to get 2 inches done so far! I haven't taken any photos yet as I want to see what I can do 1st before I start on the next!
