Default Three New Treasures

I have gotten my hands on a few new AMC treasures over the last couple of weeks. I thought I'd wait until I recieved them all before I posted, and finally, after what seemed like forever (), the last one arrived today!

Added to my collection, I'm very happy to say, are HC 1st edition, 1st printings of Dragonsong, Dragonquest and Get Off The Unicorn.

The 1st one I picked up was the Atheneum Dragonsong, which I got for the bargain price of USD $10.50. It's in excellent condition except for 3 teeny tiny tears on the DJ. Unfortunately I got outbid on the DSinger offered by the same seller. I was pretty dissapointed at the time, but the DQ and GotU helped ease the crushing blow. I love the cover on this version.

As nervous as I was during the DSong auction, the auction for Dragonquest was worse. I was a mess waiting for the auction to end, terrified that I was going to be outbid. Another bidder did jump into the game, but thankfully I won in the end, and for what I thought was good price. It's in superb condition.

And last but not least was Get Off The Unicorn. Purchased by me to alleviate the stress I was feeling during the DQ auction. At least thats my story & I'm sticking to it. It's also in excellent condition.

I did have some help on one or two of these beauties...
So a BIG thank you goes out to Hans for his help/advice/tips. You're da bomb! Thanks.

Sam! They are beautiful indeed, especially the Dragonquest and GotU.
If you knew how long I had to wait for that book...! Oh, I think you do know It's just plain unfair that you have found it so soon after starting with colelcting seriously Nah, I don't mean that of course. I'm very happy for you. Glad you followed advice on bidding for the DQ. Can be unnerving but trust me, you even feel less rotten when you lose the bid Congrats!

Ohhh...Shiny!

I have that copy of DSong, but I paid more for mine and I spent about an hour cleaning the book when I got it home. -Chuckles-

Congrats for getting through those auctions! they do get a little tense sometimes, don't they? Good finds!

Thanks Sara. I reckon those were the 2 most tense auctions I've ever gone through. Worth it though!

Hans, I do remember how long you had to wait for your copy, and I say again, you're far more patient then I could be! And you see, I'm lucky, because I have the benefit of your years of collecting experience, and that of everybody here.

LoL! Perth is almost half a world away from NZ, Samsarra!

You got it from NZ? Tch! I should pay more attention to what is offering here, there is so seldom anything interesting. TradeMe or EBay?

Oh - I would not have bought it. But it would have been interesting to watch progress.

Do your auctions close time extend as long as someone is bidding?
I've sold popular stuff on TradeMe and to watch it extend by 10-15 minutes while a frantic bidding war goes on is Most Thrilling!

Lily, NZ doesn't feel half a world away. Especially considering it only took 4 days to get to me, when it takes 2 weeks + from the States or the UK!

I got the book from NZ ebay. It was an auction with a buy it now option. When I came across the auction it only had a few days left & there were no bidders. I chose the buy it now option, as I didn't want to take any chances with a book so rare!

The auction end time is set by the seller, and I've never seen it extended even when there was more then 1 bidder.

Actually I rarely look at NZ Ebay, but check TradeMe regularly.
I must find and put it on my regulars list.
It's TradeMe that extends the closing time if there's bidders at the time.
